And this is why you put a gun in your pack. It took a scary as hell camping scare that didn't involve animals mind you, that I now pack a gun whenever I go camping. I keep it under and to the side of my pillow in the tent.

I think the cubs would probably run after you, and the mother would of course follow. At that point you're too close and would probably die. Turning and running though is a bad idea because they will take that as a cue to chase you down and eat you.
