No reason, really. Windows 10 is fine. If you plan on playing any games on your laptop, Windows 10 is practically a necessity at this point anyway.

I have a brand new laptop with Windows 10 and have not had a single problem with downloading/playing anything so far.

People had problems with Windows 8 when it came out. And Windows XP. And literally every Windows operating system ever made. They're an extreme minority and making an important decision because of anecdotal evidence of either side is foolish. Windows 10 works fine and the vast majority of people who use it have no issues.

Considering older versions of Windows get less and less support, it only makes sense to go with the newest stable version currently available. At the moment, that would be Windows 10.

Both laptops had windows 10, they were two different brands. One was a Dell and the other an HP, i doubt both laptops were shit. The latest one i had was suppose to be good for gaming but yet it couldn't run a computer program from earlier 2000's?

Do you not know what anecdotal evidence is?

Depends what you want it for. I have an Asus Zenbook Flip UX360CA. There might be a newer model out by now, but the one I have is <$500

It's a poor man's Dell XPS/Macbook air in terms of slimness.

No dedicated GPU and doesn't have an i3/i5/i7, but it's fanless (nice and quiet). For word processing, powerpoint, web browsing it's great and light and has decent battery. The flip turns it into a decent tablet for reading pdf textbooks.

But I didn't care about the GPU because I've had "gaming laptops" in the past which sucked dick and I have a desktop at home. Couldn't care less about portable gaming. If I'm using that thing, it's to study outside of home.

Oh, and somewhat more on-topic, I'd suggest looking into MSi laptops. They've got a pretty wide range of stuff, from more budget-friendly to top-of-the-line gaming rigs. The prices are competitive (unlike Alienware) and they have pretty good build quality too.

The one I just bought is an MSi and it's one of their top-tier models. The thing is built like a tank, hardly any flex on chassis, plenty of ventilation for the built-in cooling even without using any extra laptop cooling pads/fans. And, again, it's got Windows 10 and I haven't had a single issue with it yet.

It was a custom build through GenTechPC.com, and if you're planning to get a custom build instead of just a standardized off-the-shelf laptop, I highly recommend them. It took a couple days longer than their estimate and I hadn't received a shipping notification yet, so I called them up and their service guy was extremely knowledgeable and explained what the holdup was immediately and apologized, promising it would be shipped the next day. Which it was. Turns out a part for my laptop arrived and wasn't the one they had ordered, so it took an extra couple days to get the right one shipped. Not their fault, and the fact that they didn't give me some bullshit excuses, said they were sorry for the delay and they had bumped it up to the top of the priority list so that it was finished immediately when the right part came in, and spoke to me like a reasonable human being puts their customer service far above the vast majority of companies, imo. XD
