Board 8 > Yakuza Kiwami Playthrough Topic *Spoilers*

Coming off the heels of 0, Kiwami released this week. I started the series with 4, so I don't know the events of this game. For anyone playing alongside me, or just for the topic ride, black bar spoilers going forward.

I'm ready to see how everything started...probably with someone getting bashed with a bicycle.

Looks like I got a "Dragon God's Amulet" for having a 0 save file.

Well, this game sure fits right where 0 left off. Same battle system, same graphics, same city layout (very convenient), and same VAs. Fits like a glove. I would have appreciated a less stupid way to pawn off a tutorial mission though. Buying a ring, just to get pickpotted, and then the stupid mess at the pawn shop was pointless. The remainder of the stuff was great. I stopped at the part where Nishiki killed Dojima, Kiryu took the fall, and inmates tried to kill him. I was happy to see them show prison scenes. I'm not sure how much more there will be like that, but it's a nice way to not just "time jump," and give things context.

This game would be a lot easier if the sidestory missions launched exactly when and where they were supposed to. A couple missions are "beat up yakuza that threaten stores." They don't show up. Instead, I putz around too long, and random jobbers or Majima show up to screw up my fun.

I am glad the Training Gear is so freaking nice. That should be everyone's first get with the CP. +11 in defense, and an added experience boost.

It was nice of the game to not make carrying Haruka home from the bloody bar scene an escort mission. I guess the idiots were nice enough to suspend disbelief and let Kiryu drop her onto the ground before fighting LIKE REAL MEN!

Also, Majima got stabbed by his own dipshit, because he Joker'd his own Batman. I WANNA KILL KIRYU-CHAN! *Murders yakuza flunkie with a baseball bat.

This franchise is balls deep in crazy creek.

Well, it looks like you can beat Majima up enough that the story has to progress to continue. Interesting way to gate off abilities for that style. I doubt the other styles are gated off though. I'm halfway through those.

Yep. Haruka was a bullet magnet. Good thing for her, Kiryu is practically godlike.

I did enough in the colosseum to get those stupid training missions. I'm out of that crap now. Onto that insect...girl...thing.

The shooting minigame took me back to the start of the mission if I failed near the end. What balls. Glad it's done.

Stupid Majima sidequest. I know I am nearing the end, but start taking some fucking damage from the skillset I'm building. I get extra EXP if I do.

All right. That's that game down. Between this and 0, this is probably the best non-P5 game I've played all year. I could have done without all the crazy political jargon and backstabbing within the last hour or so, but asking a straightforward story from a bunch of burly angry men shooting people was a bit much I suppose.
