Marvel wants to replace the X-Men with the Inhumans since they still own the movie and toy rights, but it'll never happen.

I don't know how they expected to replace the X-Men with Inhumans. The Inhumans are a bunch of insane royals that are impossible to relate to and for the most part even more difficult to really be interested in. I just don't get how you look at Inhumans and go "Yeah, we can make a cool team of these guys to fight evil!" They just aren't that. They're a bunch of weirdos with weird problems that nobody can relate to. It's so weird that they thought this would work out.

The worst of it is I really thought they would make for a more unique and interesting movie.

It doesn't matter that it makes no sense. The Inhumans are the closest thing Marvel still has to the X-Men, so they'll push it despite it clearly being a terrible idea. It's one of the biggest obvious missteps of the MCU.

Oh, I absolutely agree that it would have made for a better movie. The Inhumans are guys I want to spend 2 hours of my time with. I absolutely do not want to hang out with these weirdos for multiple hours of my life weekly.

They could make the Inhumans the new X-Men if they put forth the effort and still made an us versus the government story where they have a safe haven for new Inhumans from the real world who have to cope with these crazies. But to just try to make it happen with only the Inhumans they have? No way does that work.

The Inhumans on SHIELD are very much an X-Men lite. A bunch of random individuals with superpowers who the general public feels afraid/hateful towards.

That's not really what the plan was originally. They weren't trying to replace the X-Men with the royals, they were trying to replace random mutants with random Inhumans. The idea was that random people all over the world were unknowingly descendants of the ancient Inhumans, and in the Infinity event when the Terrigen mists spread across the world, a bunch of them would suddenly get Inhuman powers. So when they want a character to just be some random person that gets powers for no reason, they'd be Inhumans (and thus characters that Marvel held the film rights to) and not mutants (who would go to Fox despite being new).

There's no real reason that shouldn't have worked, and really it DID work because that's where Kamala Khan came from and she's the best new hero Marvel's had in years. The problem was when they also tried to push out the established, popular X-Men characters.

Pretty sure it's not other than being in the same setting. I think they even definitively said we wouldn't be seeing SHIELD besides maybe a reference to the Inhumans in that show.

Besides SHIELD is actually pretty great so that would imply this would be too!

Also I got curious at the history of the channel and started looking it up. Its actually quite fascinating...they are contractually obligated to air The 700 Club(Its a televangelist program) forever despite having no relation or involvement with the program and their own views typically fall in direct conflict with the program.

The trailer for Cloak and Dagger actually looks pretty good imo. Also, in 2018 Marvel will release New Warriors on Freeform as well. It's essentially going to be a sitcom iirc.

I think Cloak and Dagger looks interesting FWIW. It seems like it's aimed more at teens with a romance angle and stuff like that rather than typical superhero genre fair which is.... fine. It's good to diversify these shows instead of making them all the same. It's a big reason the movies are so good after all.
