I should get a new Vita to play new releases.

Every time I think the Vita is over and done, it surprises me. This year has been oddly heavy on Vita releases, I have noticed.

Wonder if its worth playing both AMR2 and Samus Returns.

That debate is currently raging on the game board. Thus far, I am more in favor of AM2R (because it feels like Zero Mission, which I love), but SR is not bad.

And do not feel bad, Ages. I did not get to play the original Metroid II until Virtual Console.

I am worried because the dev said the sales of samus returns will depict whether or not we get more 2d samus games, how are the sales currently?

No idea how the game is selling. Might be too soon for the opening sales numbers to become available. No one doubts that it will outsell Federation Force, though.

I beat the main story of Kindred Spirits On the Roof today. Overdue. Should have plowed through all of it last year, but ... life gets in the way, especially of long projects like VNs. I still have all of the extra scenes to do, but I can easily give the game my highest marks. It is the one yuri VN to rule them all, no question about it, and I did not want it to be over. ... And I admit I teared up a bit at the end.

I can't think of any games that have made me cry before. I haven't played very many visual novels, or the list would probably be pretty high.

I didn't cry during the climax of 999, though it tugged my heartstrings right out.

I think I may have cried in Legend of Dragoon, when they're in Hell and Lavitz and Dart say their goodbyes. Bromances like that can get to me.

To those who don't know, Dungeon Meshi is basically Dungeons and Dragons: Cookbook edition. Where the main party travel the dungeon and sample all of the different monsters.

Well, it could just be that I'm getting more emotional as I get older. Rewatching It at the theater yesterday still made me tear up. (Yeah, that part where It is pretending to be Georgie and asking Bill to take him home really gets to me, I'll admit it.) I don't know. I guess it just feels good to not be emotionally disconnected.

I'm a good distance into Samus Returns, and the game is appreciably hard, but I think it might be time for another VN. Just have to decide what it is. Could replay School Days HQ, do a deep dive into Steins;Gate, or pick up any number of the short ecchi bits (e.g. the Sakura series). Too many choices. Not a bad thing.

But I notice I am reluctant to really go epic (see: Dies Irae or Muv-Luv) just yet. I need more free time to make one of those monster VNs feel really worthwhile.

The manga Ninja Shinobu-chan no Junjou just ended and all I can say is...

D'AWWWW

What a sweet way to end a lighthearted rom/com about the fluff filled days of a normal high school girl (who's totally NOT a ninja by the way!). I would have liked to see some more development of their relationship, and even the side characters were endearing enough to make me want to see more of their lives; but all in all, I'm happy with the way it ended.

What a great first work by the mangaka! Lots of these short first work stories usually end up mediocre or get axed. I'm glad this one had a fairly good reception and had a good ending. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of their work.

If you've read Bonnouji, Midori No Hibi, Hadi Girl, or just want to read something light and fluffy without any unnecessary drama, you should check it out.

It's got 30 chapters with an average of 25 pages per chapter so it's relatively short.

I have NO IDEA why the anime and manga got rated so highly on all the sites I've been to. And why it's so popular over in Japan as well. It's baffling.

Spiral - the manga is fantastic. Haven't seen the anime but I heard they made up a weak ending. But the main plot is great, with lots of individual mysteries and cases that all connect to the larger ongoing mystery of the Blade Children.

Big O - everyone needs to watch this, because it's just plain awesome. Gets a bit too complicated for my taste in the second half, kind of like Eva.

R.O.D - the three episode OVA is amazing. The TV series is a bit different, but also really good. It takes place a few years later with different protagonists, with some minor characters returning. The first few episodes switch between action and slice of life, and the real plot doesn't kick off until near the end of the first season. Also has an amazing soundtrack that I listen to nearly every day.

Kare Kano - this one's kind of odd for me. It's actually pretty good and enjoyable; it's a well-written character-driven drama about a couple coming together and facing their problems, with the music and visuals complementing it perfectly. And doesn't get too heavy handed thanks to a sizeable dose of comedy. But for some reason it can never hold my interest for long.

Cromartie - It's a little bit like Daily Lives of High School Boys, if every character was a badass delinquent. Also there's a robot, a gorilla, and Freddie Mercury.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - If you're in the mood for watching a badass, here's what you want. I'd be happy if there was more of it.

Wandering Son - Watched this one recently. It's definitely different than most shows and was a solid watch.

Ghost Hunt - This is one of the few shows I felt was decent in the horror/eerie/spooky category.

Drop everything and watch Twelve Kingdoms, IMO, especially if you have seen Fushigi Yugi (so you can watch 12K tear everything about that genre to shreds). Gorgeous animation, great plot, and it is unafraid to go dark. Only drawback is that it only adapts a portion of a long-running novel series, but that is not a new problem for anime.

Tried watching Beelzebub, but it comes off as immature and the crying gag is getting old, like they drop the "pikachu electrocutes someone and its funny guys", like WAY too often.

Do you guys ever listen too music while reading? I haven't really ever tried it, but I thought it might be a cool idea to listen to an animes soundtrack while reading the manga of said anime.

No. I usually don't like listening to music when I'm viewing something like reading, or parts of video games that aren't grinding. I tend to pay more attention to the music rather than whatever I'm viewing.

Yeah, if I'm playing a game I more then likely just listen to whatever audio the game has & when I'm reading anything for the first time I always prefer to read in dead silence so I can concentrate on it more.

But on a second read, I might try listening to some music... I hardly ever re-read something though, there's always something new to read instead.

I listen to music when reading manga. Sometimes normal songs, but mostly soundtracks or other BGM. It gets to where I start to associate certain songs with certain series, especially if I happened to hear it for the first time while reading that series.

On a related note, I like to listen to rock/high energy songs while playing Smash Bros., particularly VAMPS.

Yeah, I regularly listen to my own music when playing games like Tekken, GTA, Unreal tournament, Cataclysm DDA & most other games that don't really have an intricate story/cutscenes or require you to hear the games audio for gameplay reasons. But playing things like Mario, I still listen to the games BGM, LOL, it would be blasphemy not to ^_^

That list is far from obscure. It has legend of the galactic heroes man. That show is fantastic, everyone should watch it. It's up there in terms of best anime of all time. I would say more but honestly I don't really need to because theres reviews everywhere praising it.

Infinite Ryvius - this is actually pretty great. School like space ship/station thingy has some catastrophe and all the adults get killed or something (its been a long time since I saw it). The important thing though is that there are hundreds or maybe thousands of kids stuck on a space station with limited resources and no laws. It devolves pretty intensely and gets pretty dark.

Speed grapher - I dropped this. It has a somewhat interesting premise and IIRC people get powers based on negative traits like greed and lust and whatnot. Main guy always takes pictures and his power is camera related. Pretty adult but also pretty crap from what I remember. Again, its been a while.

Red Garden - Kinda like gantz for girls. It's actually pretty solid though and the characters are mostly enjoyable. I think the ending was a bit weird but it at least has an ending...I think. Again, its been a while.

Yuri Kuma Arashi - Lesbian bears attack. Don't worry though, the bears have a human form, also they eat humans. It has this whole find the imposter before they eat us kinda thing going on but also lesbians and symbolism. You'd think with yuri being my lifeblood and loving mindfuck bullshit this would be right up my alley but I actually dropped it pretty early. Not even really sure why, just didn't really enjoy it. IIRC its by the mowaru penguindrum guy and it has a similar feel (although I liked that show). I remember just finding it boring. I should probably try again at some point though.

Read or Die - Not sure if you mean the ova or the tv series but the ova is great, never seen the tv series but hear good things.

Shakugan no Shana - Do you like lolis? Do you like tsunderes? Do you like shonen battle bullshit? Then you like the show. Do you not like those things? Then you hate the show. It was nothing special IMO but nothing bad either. I didn't finish the whole thing but I think I made it through a season or two. Totally watchable.

Gankutsuuo - This series is really good. One of the better ones on the list IMO. An anime take on the count of monte cristo. The count really sells the show and it has the weirdest fucking art style so that could make or break it for you. I know personally the art annoyed me to no end at first except I guess it did have an end because it grew on me. Literally thought I had some glitched video at first though.

Grisaia - good harem anime. Funny, has action, mostly great girls, nipples on BD release IIRC. I haven't actually finished the series but not because its bad or anything.

Mahouka Kouhou no Rettousei - Guy who is too cool for school goes to school anyway and wows everyone with his OP protagonist abilities. It's actually pretty solid but not very memorable IMO. Generic you could say.

Scrapped Princess - One of the few actual fantasy adventure anime and its also really solid. There isn't much it does that's revolutionary but its very well made and enjoyable the whole way through. I remember the action being especially cool but its bones so no surprise.

Maria sama ga Miteru - Yuri bait with class, the anime. Really really shoujo. Haven't actually seen it though but I've heavily considered it and then didn't watch it several times.

Seikon no Qwaser - Do you have a lactation fetish? If yes, ecchi anime of the year, if no disgustring horribly written trash that should be burned on sight. I'm in the latter camp.

Sankarea - This is not just beautiful ecchi garbo. This is weird ecchi. Main guy has zombie fetish, meets girl who kills herself but doesn't stay dead, romance ensues.

Hitting the character limit, will review more later.

Boruto is for me so far. The best part about reading the manga though, is the tsukkomis complaining about Sarada being sexual at some points. So I like to make tsukkomis that say "Give us more sexy Sarada!!!"

Very much this, while I can still enjoy the original Naruto to an extent (minus the fillers of course) Shippuden with it's MASSIVE amount of filler content and ass-pull power-ups leaves the series as a whole feeling weak, also Sakura doesn't get enough flack for being a useless bitch in the original series and a downright nasty one in Shippuden

I stopped Naruto during the Chunin exam, shortly after they got out of the forest. Mainly just because my Shonen Jump subscription expired, and I never picked it up again. ;>.>

Going back to listening to music while reading, a couple weeks ago something bizarre happened. I was listening to music while reading this manga Seishun Pop, and there was a scene where the main character was also listening to music. It showed his iPod, and he was playing the same song as me. Escape by the brilliant green. Man, the odds of that..

I dunno, I just rewatched the series and she gets called basically useless quite often. It doesn't happen once an episode but I'm thinking at least once per arc at least. Except maybe the first arc. Even Iruka says it, although a bit nicer XD
