But when you go back you are in the body of your past self. You have all your current memories, and supposed skills. But in the body/time line of your past self. Premonitions: You see the future in flashes. This could be anything from winning lotto tickets for next week that nobody has to pick. Baseball, sports scores. Events that have yet to unfold for another 2-10 years. The story goes, he arrived and claimed to be from the future and stayed around to watch the Enterprise's mission to save some planet from nuclear winter or global warming or something. He surveyed the crew, was a jerk to Data, and got all rapey with Crusher. At the end it turned out he was actually from the past, using a stolen time ship that crashed in his time, to steal things from the future and bringing them to the past to 'invent' them. There was also a few others. A couple in Voyager (actually, more than a couple). I don't think there was one in DS9, and I've never watched Enterprise.
