USANumber1 09/09/17 4:01:17 AM #1:	Battle of the best non metal 80s bands goooooooooooo. I'm sorry I didn't list Joy Division or New Order because I'm sorry but I hate them and find them unpleasant to my ears. 1. For me is XTC. They have a pretty damn diverse set of incredible albums that show a progression from very good to extraordinary. Skylarking is my favorite album of the 80s and with its lack of stereotypical recording techniques (gated reverb) it's decidedly the least 80s sounding one. And it has an intro (first two songs) up there with the greatest pop/rock albums of all time. Choice song: 1000 Umbrellas 2. The Smiths. Deciding between The Smiths and The Cure is hard but I have to go with the band with the better musicians. Johnny Marr is a monster guitarist and Morrisay is a monster singer. Choice song: How soon is now? 3. The Cure. Going by consistently, longevity, and diversity I could easily have gone with The Cure as #2. Despite having a goth image they have some of the most uplifting songs out of the bands listed. Choice song: Pictures of you 4.
