My gf is pissed that he has lots of money to gamble but he only gave my son a $200+ car seat as a gift and nothing else

She thinks he should be giving more because her parents gave him a ton of gifts (lots of onesies, toys, new stroller, etc)

Problem is.... I disagree with my gf and I dont think he's entitled to anything. My dad's money is his money and he has the right to do whatever he wants with it. Even if it means gambling....

She's also pretty upset he has never came over to visit us ever since he was born. The problem is.... my dad has no car to get here and he lives pretty far away....

So I dont know if my gf is right in feeling our little guy is owed all this by his grandpa (my dad).....

Your girlfriend sounds money-grubbing. Someone else having cash shouldn't mean she's entitled. Red flag.

The obvious here is you're right here but it goes deeper. Sometimes there's expectations. My parents make good money, probably like 150k combined with my dad being 50k. My mom helps out all the time without ever being asked. When we moved she helped us, she will randomly just give us money for furniture or something. One time she just decided to pay a bill. I don't like when she pays for stuff but I like when she helps out like with moving by helping or just being there

My girlfriends parents have never helped us out and they're fucking loaded. All my girlfriends mom does is bitch and complain. They flat out said they weren't helping with moving just because they didn't feel like it and it was a big move. But she has asked me 5 times since I've known my girlfriend to come grab furniture and things from recently deceased relatives but she never helps us

I think there should be a little bit of an expectation too

This. I was going to say something that wasn't nearly as nice.

You're never entitled to gifts. It's up to your dad how much involvement he wants to have

Your girlfriend wishing your father spent more time is more defensible, but it seems her main issue is wanting him to open his wallet more, which is not.

You're dad bought a nice gift. It's not his fault your girlfriends parents bought more stuff. That's their prerogative.
