Current Events > Any interest in an open-world Hogwarts game?

The idea kept me up for hours last night.

You'd play through all 7 years at Hogwarts
There'd be character customization, but the character models would be fairly simple (think The Sims 4)
You'd take all sorts of classes like Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, etc.
Your character would age as the years go by (which basically means they'd get taller and look more mature)
You'd have 39 classmates in your year (5 boys and 5 girls for each House, excluding you) who are full-fledged NPCs that you can befriend, date, bully/etc.
Hogwarts is filled with stuff to do and places to go
The Forbidden Forest is fully explorable. The deeper you go into it, the deadlier it gets (first-years will get destroyed there). The game becomes more "survival horror"-like the deeper you go.
Hogsmeade is available in Year 3, where you buy all sorts of goodies and items
You can play Quidditch either recreationally with friends or be on a House team
The game takes place in the modern-era, which basically just means the events of Harry Potter already happened

I've got some more ideas for it. AMA if you wanna know more.

Time

Playing through an entire school year 7 times would be awful, so the years won't actually be that long
Each school year is divided into 3 trimesters (Fall, Winter, and Spring)
Each has 14 days to it (10 school days, 4 weekends)
Each day takes about 2 hours in real time to get through (from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm). You can speed time up to get to the day events quicker.
Holidays would be Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's, Easter, and maybe some more

What would the overarching plot be though?

I dunno, there are plenty of open-world MMO games that take forever to get 100% in(if that's even possible) so a game that actually takes 7 years to finish isn't that unreasonable

I was thinking about having a cheat code (seriously, what happened to those) that you enter at the main menu that skips you to a certain year.

Just play the LEGO Harry Potter games. They're somewhat like this and the first one is pretty good.

I used to toy around with a similar idea when I was really into rpg maker. I was only thinking one year though.

A HP-based ARPG in the style of Bully could be dope, but maybe do like a wizarding college instead of Hogwarts. That way you could start with a general skillset and pick courses based on the type of magic you want to spec in.

I would love it, I think if they had somewhat of a Escapists concept with times you have to be certain places, and things to do in between, it would be fun.

Harry Potter OOTP was really the only fun HP game they ever released imo. They could really tap into that entire universe and do cool things with it.

Yeah people have been dreaming about this for so many years but Warner Brothers don't seem like they would ever license the IP to competent developers.
