I want to play Metroid: Samus Returns now.

And this is probably going to be my last-ever 3DS game, unless if Nintendo somehow extends the life of it.

I heard of no rumors of an "HDS", so it's sad that this is also Nintendo's last truly dedicated handheld (the Switch is a handheld that comes with a TV-output dock, so it's also a console, and exactly "dedicated").

I'm sure it will be good, but from the few screenshots in the eShop the 3D models look terrible

Because, a 6 year old handheld that is barely Wii powered, has the most beautiful graphics in the world. It runs Donkey Kong Country Returns at half the framerate, and Xenoblade Chronicles (New 3DS only) with ugly textures everywhere.

Y'see this is why I don't understand what it is you are even saying.

Not every game is Xenoblade, of course there's going to be some games that don't look good. But there are lots of good looking games, and I was commenting on a static screenshot - which may or may not be representative of the final product.
