ever get so frustrated with a game that you just stopped playing for reasons other than completing the story?

for me it was most of my SNES games and a few Mega Man games. I've never beaten the first Mega Man...

I also quit Dark Souls, lol. I'd die for being silly, and always had to travel aaalllll the way back. couldn't do it anymore.

But that's the whole point. It's fun to play a game of "don't fuck up" because the tension is so high that the release when you finally complete that section is just as high. It's like an orgasm.

But it is a game requiring time and dedication which makes it unpopular with non-shut-ins.

Not that I never went back to

But Tales of Symphonia was boring af for several hours right near the disc change so I gave up. Came back to it and beat it but it was months later.

Phantasy Star II, same story.

I don't think I've ever permanently rage quit a game before, only stopped playing because the game didn't suit my fancies.

Although I have raged to the point of punching a hole in my bedroom door...

I spent about a week playing Dark Souls before I realized all I was doing was memorizing the areas and I wasn't having fun. Mostly I just really disliked the combat. Since there was no story, it was pretty easy to quit.

I have a buddy who couldn't beat that game until he got into the army, lol. he was a combat medic who spent time gaming and drinking. only after he beat the game years later did he start recommending it, lol. before that he was like "fuck that game!"

does quitting a game for a long time because it was stupid, then force your self to beat the main story a year later, then quit forever when it came to doing the extras?

that is the closest I ever got to completely ragequiting a game.

I quit Mortal Kombat 2 for a year because of Shao Kahn.

Nowadays the games I don't always beat are the Games with Gold for XBox. Sometimes I'm just curious.

Nothing. Well, nothing that I quit because of difficulty at least. (I'd always quit JRPGs in the room before a final boss honestly.) Even Ninja Gaiden, I still played and beat on MNM. I never played a NG game prior to this, but I am a determined person and will keep at it until I get what I want.

Darkfall. Online MMO that was a time sink. Played way too much, realized what a drain it was and just said fuck it and left the guild and the game.

I admire that. I get mad enough to where I'm pressing buttons and directional stick way too hard without realizing it. I don't shout or even have a change in tone. but the controller is having the life squeezed out of it, lolololol

I had to get a controller last year because my aim kept moving on it's own in CoD, lol.

Nioh.

I thought that it was difficult, but the thing that made me give up on it was that I didn't dig its aesthetic.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I was so pissed at that game. Momiji's level in the PS3's NGS2 was probably a 5-10 minute level on average. I was stuck on that level for at the minimum of three hours one evening. I was furious over it. I didn't give up though.

TMNT Arcade on NES. Got to Shredder 3 times, never beat him. I was like 8 years old at the time so idk if I could do it now. I did beat games like Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Renegade, Legend of Zelda, Mario at that age so I was pretty skilled.

Battletoads I never finished either and got rid of it before I got anywhere close.

The DLC for Dark Souls III made me perfectly okay with the series being ended. It also killed any desire I had to ever replay the game.

Also, the bitch ass Pure Black Phantoms in Demon's Souls made me give up my attempt to platinum that game. I got the one in 2-2 down to one hit, then she literally turned her back to me and ran into the pit. That means I didn't get credit for the kill and couldn't get the Friend Ring without doing a whole replay. On top of that, I begrudgingly kept going, only to have the phantom in 1-1 do the same damn thing (but at nearly full health). It was at tbat point that I quit.

FFXII for me, only game i played that made me do that.
Other games I stopped playing just because I did not have enough time for them, forgot about them and move to something else, even though I DO want to play them

The first time I played through FFX-2, I quit about 3/4 of the way through because it was dumb and I got tired of it. 3 or 4 years later I forced myself to replay and finish it, and absolutely no part of that was worth my time. I should have just let it go

Shit game, shit controls, really bad detection, and I swear it's unfinished. I'm pretty sure, that's why they added the level select even before you beat the game.
