I think the biggest issue is that many just don't see it as hard at all, and take them for granted.

Sure, it might not be the most demanding job in the world, but it isn't necessarily an easy one either - raising children properly isn't always easy and they leave a lot of mayhem in their wake if allowed. Most often, I think they just want some appreciation.

I actually would love to be a stay at home dad. I got to do it for a couple of weeks this summer while the person who watches my son was on vacation, and it was glorious. I got to spend so much time with him, plus had time to do all the household chores and got more gaming time than normal.

I bet it depends on the age of the kid. If it's an infant and takes two naps a day, it's not so bad. But if it's an active 3 year old I bet it can be tough to get anything done without constantly being slowed down by their needs. Also, I'd hate not having any adults to talk to.

99% of the time it's what you want to do. You decided you wanted to have a child and decided you wanted to stay at home and raise it. Don't complain later about how hard it is considering what you're doing is a huge luxury and you knew it would be hard beforehand. All the women I admire in my family had to work 40+ hours a week on top of all the crap you're complaining about. What you're doing is optional.. Spare me.

They always want to go outside. They cry for everything. They cry for attention when they get to a certain age. They will pee on you, shit at unexpected times and you have to feed them every few hours. When it gets messy, it gets really messy and most people wouldn't be able to handle it.

I have a lot of respect for all the stay-at-home moms out there.

There is always the dilemma of sending or not sending them to daycare. when they're less than a year old, most parents want to be home with their child and take care of them. I don't know your situation, but I've seen many where the mom wants to stay home because they don't trust daycare. They're also putting their career on hold, something most women don't want to do in today's society.

My wife actually liked her job and she had to give it up. I think you underestimate how many women out there would much rather work than be at home taking care of a child. Maybe there is a decent percentage of women who doesn't want to work, but your estimate is grossly exaggerated.
