You know those common messages that people post on these forums, that are aimed at trolling, flaming, arguing, and pissing people off in general?

Yeah, there's a 93.8% chance they were made by people over the age of 20. What's worse, is that there's a 43.3% chance that they were created by people over 30. Keep that in mind the next time you see that stuff.

Scary? How so? I don't think there's ever an "age limit" when folks tire of stuff like trolling, flaming, arguing, etc.

I'd admit though, despite being guilty of it myself sometimes, it baffles me the amount of effort people put into these argument with stranger(s) who has no bearing on our personal lives. In my case it is a mix of my ego and actually trying to understand the opposing side's mentality. Majority of the time though there is nothing to understand except for me to just accept everyone have different opinions and preferences. But some folks seem to go the whole nine yards just to try and prove a stranger, that they will probably never see in their lives, wrong. To what purpose other than for their own ego is beyond me.

Odds are, TC created the account 12 years ago, posted a lot, then left for a while, then came back, then left, and on and off for 12 years.

I think he's trying to say the guy doesn't come here every day so clearly he just uses it to log in periodically to troll. It's kind of missing the possibility that maybe he left for years and came back or just doesn't log in every single day, though.

That's silly. I have lower than average karma because I simply don't visit on a regular basis, and I post even less. I like GameFAQs, but I'm busy with other things much of the time.

So having a low amount of karma against the age of the account somehow makes that account a troll alt?

I don't even come here for guides anymore. just the boards. once in awhile i'll check the "cheats" section of a game just to see if there is anything cool but cheats (aside from glitches/exploits) are also going the way of the dinosaur

No, I don't know those common messages. Arguments occur when people disagree. Flaming is when a discussion gets heated and becomes about a person and not the issue they disagree on. Trolling and "pissing people off in general" are rather subjective. Given the other examples I'm assuming these are an excuse to disregard another person because they can't possibly hold a view that is different from yours, they must have just claimed otherwise out of a dark sense of humor and therefore have nothing to contribute.

Yes, it's a theory, but speaking for myself, my GameFAQs persona is nowhere close to how I talk and act IRL. It's not unreasonable to assume that other people are the same way.

Sure, yeah. But whatever people display on GameFAQs is definitely a part of who they are in one way or another. You can't deny that.

90% of the time I act exactly the same online, I just have a slightly and I do mean slightly shorter temper online.

but I also mean I act the same as I would around people I barely know in real life as I do here. you have to be really close to me to see my true self. well basically I feel like I have 3 persona's, personal life (around close friends or family) public life, and professional life. paycheck becomes involved I become 100% business
