Yeah. You should be able to take a test drive before you decide too.

Don't buy a salvage. Rebuilt cars should work fine. They do not hold value. They can be more difficult to insure. They may not be as safe, if the rebuilding was not done properly. But they're fixed and inspected to get that title.

I have a salvage title on my truck. Got the truck super cheap and in great, rebuilt shape and super low miles. That being said, it isn't worth shit unless I can sell it privately so if you get a salvage car, make sure you won't hate it because you're probably going to have it for a long time.

Probably was in a flood. If the price is right for a beater/unreliable car than ok. Depending on size, I'd pay up to $1700.

I think insurance can be substantially more expensive so get a quote before you buy

The less you spend on cars initially, the more you tend to spend in the long run. I spent way too much time and money fixing and worrying about beater cars.

Not if you know what you are looking for.

I recently bought a $600 grand cherokee and have only put... $1000 into it. Ive never had anything fail that I was stranded over. Its all small things that have added up, or things I wanted (such as a small lift, hood louvers, etc). Similar ones sell for $3000. That need the same things done. Heck, I was looking at one that needed a new transmission, new engine, and the charging system was screwed. They were trying to sell it for $2500.

I had a salvaged frankenjeep for a dozen years, I drove it like a rented mule for those years, and learned a lot about vehicle maintenance on a vehicle that had no resale value to begin with. As long as you can accept what you're buying, you'll be fine. Just make certain it wasn't a flood salvage first.
