Chapter 2 School Life Thoughts
I agree that Ryoma had something going, but they offed him before he could get to it. At least a better backstory than Rantaro did. What I hope does NOT happen is Kaito, who was picking up momentum, either gets killed or is the killer. There's this feeling that the game is doing stuff to build Shuichi's "character." If they try and pull this shit a second time in a row, it just reeks of, "MAKE ROMAN LOOK STRONG" (another WWE reference I know). But how else am I supposed to explain making everyone do their part for some fucking idiot's sake? You're not supposed to force stuff out of the main character...by forcing it on the audience.

I do like that Angie and Himiko have a budding Mahiru and Hiyoko thing going on...without the Mahiru DYING part. Angie isn't great or anything. She strikes me as a worse version of that Ghost Stories girl that was all, "PRAISE JESUS!" But they are at least doing something with those two to stand out.

My free time was spent with girls, cause duh. I shudder to think what more of Miu's inventions would be like. I wouldn't put it past her to create that Futurama X-Ray laser that fried Fry's sperm.

About to resume chapter 3 for a short while before bed. Gonna post some wild theories.

What if the culprit for Angie's case is Himiko? Maybe Angie decided to not revive any of the four, and thought that she should use the revive on someone she approves of, namely a student council member. So she summons Himiko, says that she wants to kill her, then revive her. Then Himiko panics and kills Angie in self-defence. And then in Angie's last moments, she decided to lock the doors herself to sabotage everybody. Bring along more followers for Atua, so she thought.

I was invested in this from Ryoma's death onward. I was very curious if the story would pull another "Shuichi will become MANLY" trope by killing off Kaito. Instead, he joins mister fortune teller dreadlock nerd from DR1 in the "idiot pile." Those people always seem to survive, because the design team must think idiots are comic relief potential...

Anyway, I was at least happy to know that again, it wasn't a true top character to go out, but Kirumi instead. That does mean odds are people are like are going to drop dead soon. But for now, how they tied in Tenko, Angie, Himiko, Kirumi, Maki, and Ryoma (fuck Kaito, Shuichi, and Kokichi. They are still boring as fuck) were nice touches. Ryoma letting himself die off for Kirumi's sake, her turning into an almost backstabbing, manipulative bitch, and her punishment time were magnificent.

However, Monodam...dude.

Chapter 3 trial

With the setup for Tenko's case more or less figured out, Kiyo's just about confirmed to be the culprit. He's the only one who could've positioned the sickle through the cage, beneath the cloth. He's the only one who could've removed the sickle while removing the cloth.

The next question will obviously be "Why?". Why did he do it? Then I'll need to figure out if he has any connection with Angie's case.

So Kiyo was a ticking time bomb all along. I feel like I was able to appreciate his breakdown better, having known about his sister beforehand via his FTEs. I wish I had more conclusive evidence than the rigged floorboard for Angie's case.

Got a preview of chapter 4. That damn censor again, censoring parts of Rantaro's video. Why? He's obviously not the man behind Monokuma, judging from what he said. But what ties does he have to the entire plot?

"This world is mine. Kokichi Oma." What's the meaning behind this message? Now that I think of it, this game opened many lines of mysteries, but they're not letting us make any progress on any of them. The funeral, the Armageddon scene, Rantaro, ground message. I kinda don't like that.

I have to admit, the lengths they went to for this double murder is beyond fantastical. And just...wow. Korekiyo is just plain batshit crazy. I cannot seem to fathom what happened, other than I "guess" he was an incestuous, lovelorn fool with an astral form of his sister INSIDE him, which compelled him to kill for her sake? I'm just gonna handwave and say YOU KILLED TENKO YOU BASTARD! SERVES YOU RIGHT YOU DISGUSTING DEGENERATE...ahem...anyway. His Punishment Time was as bonkers as both he, his love confession, and the murders he perpetrated. Not sure how or why, my brain melted long before this point.

As predicted, the list is certainly going to change, because Korekiyo, Maki, Angie, and Himiko (previously unused or unfocused characters) got tons of play here. At least I can say the ratio of degenerate males to waifus is starting to finally get back to even. MONODAM NO!

Kokichi had Gonta rage, because he's a prick and Gonta not smart. He probably told Gonta she hated bugs and stomped on one in Star Ocean World or something. It's just dumb enough to be illogical and yet plausible, like everything about Kiyo's revelation.

Managed to get a bit of Daily Life last night.

Went after Maki for FTE. Kinda pains me to see Kaito trying to act normal when he's so ill. They also seem to be trying to confirm the ship between Maki and Kaito.

So far, other than Rantaro, all personnel involved in cases are personnel whose labs have been revealed. At the moment, the ones who are still alive and have a lab are Shuichi, Kibo, Gonta, Maki, Himiko, Miu and Tsumugi. If we take away the ones who have plot armour (note that plot armour doesn't necessarily mean invulnerable), we're left with Kibo, Gonta, Himiko, Miu and Tsumugi. But I get the feeling that I might be blindsided because for one, Kokichi has to be smart enough to make the link between the card and the library. Going after the library is a very dangerous thing to do I think. The other is Kaito and his failing health. It might trigger him to do something martyr-y. They might even throw my player character out again and then give me Maki or something.

Made a lil bit more progress in chapter 4.

Maxed Maki's FTE.

Someone's bound to be K.O.ed during this trip to the Neo World Program. At the moment, Miu seems to be the most likely casualty.

They're trying to make me doubt Kokichi's allegiance to the group. I still think he's with us. He's shown genuine concern for various members of the group, end of chapter 3 Himiko being the freshest example. The motive video viewing party too.

Chapter 4 End - The Game Wants Me to Care...But I Don't Give a Shit!

The game wants me to think Kokichi is some mastermind, manipulator, liar, and ungodly bastard child for corrupting Gonta into killing Miu. The game wants me to think he's this be-all-end-all malice filled kid. The game would even succeed, based on nothing more than the actor's outstanding job at portraying the character.

But I just don't care. I don't give one shit.

If this case has started the game, and Kokichi had been a "nice kid" hiding his true nature, playing Shuichi's buddy right at the start...maybe.

But I've had to listen to this insufferable piece of crap for 20 hours now. Like Nagito, no character of any worth can retain that worth if they are overused, overhyped, overrated to the point of endless exposure. It just makes him a chore, and drags down the game as a result. It made Gonta's sacrifice less of a "Holy shit Kokichi is insane," moment, and more of a, "You killed off two good and interesting characters for THAT?" scenario. The designers weren't even subtle about it, and that's the worst tragedy of it all. They should probably know better.

Character rankings stayed the same after this chapter. No sense reposting it. I'm just going to bed. Fuck this stupid shit for tonight. Getting through this chapter was turned from a delight into a chore. I just hope the rest of the game smartens up and doesn't suck.
