In Star Ocean 2 they made a big deal about this magic cannon. You couldnt beat this boss until they made it. So they make the cannon and it blows the crap out of an army of monsters.

So right after that you take the cannon to the main monster continent but on the way the original monster just shows up and beats you up and the cannon has like no effect on him.

Shortly after this you beat this monster up like any other boss.

This part always annoyed me.

These events happen very close together so them hyping the cannon up only for it to have no effect immediate after destroying an army only for you to just be able to beat him normally shortly after just felt like a massive waste of time or a rushed story.

Ill add that i really like the game though.

Any boss battle that you're scripted to lose, especially if there's no indication that it's a "scripted to lose" boss battle and you waste a ton of items trying to win.

*Tales of Symphonia spoilers* Yggdrasil, you fucking siscon bastard.

That is a very fun game. I've never beaten it though, it gets pretty tough towards the end.

Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.

in Legend of Legaia, they make a huge deal about this monster, the Juggernaut, and throughout the entire second half of the game, it leads up to a huge fight with it. Then, for the final battle, you fight this weird human/Juggernaut hybrid thing because Juggernaut fused with a character's long-lost brother who was only mentioned like once before then but really he was the leader of the Evil Party. The fusion thing was so out of nowhere that I really had a hard time enjoying the final fight.

I'm playing this weeb fap game called Moe Chronicles.
Its ok, I'd recommend a ton of other dungeon crawler games, but the gameplay is serviceable.

Either way, I get towards the end of the game and the thing that the characters have been looking for the entire story turns out to be holy panties. Then they start glowing and one of the characters is all "the panties have chosen you childhood friend-chan"

I put it down and haven't picked it up since after that.
It was just too much.

I'm getting sick of the Nibelheim flashback.

Last half of Bravely Default; TBH the "bad ending" even makes more sense.

there's a lot of things that annoyed me about Tales of Xillia but the one that probably bugged me the most was (mild mid-game spoilers) one of the party members has a thinking, talking doll sort of thing. It gets kidnapped by the bad guys and they steal its memory chip, which removes all its personality and memory and etc. The girl whose doll it is gets very sad and there's a story arc set up about chasing them down to get it back.

They chase the bad guys for all of like 20 minutes of playtime, following them to a nearby city, then completely forget about them to do other things in the city. The doll later goes completely back to normal by itself and everyone seems to forget anything even happened. The plot thread just completely disappeared

The Fade in Dragon Age: Origins.

i never got the hate for the Fade. i think Orzammar and the Deep Roads were always a much more loathsome experience.

The Fade is confusing, and getting all the bonuses makes it drag on. The Deep Roads just drags on forever already.

In some earlier JRPGs where a party member leaves or dies and you have to remember to remove their equipment before they leave

In order to get the strongest equipment in the game, you have to beat the optional monsters that are already the strongest enemies in the game.

You know who you are.
