This is honestly the first time since DW3 that I've thought "that looks pretty good." Normally these games are hideous. It seems like they're really trying.

I can think of a few reasons. The clones or the fact that it's being revamped?

Also, for the longest time Dynasty Warriors has had PS2 syndrome where it only really focused on marginal improvements to itself as a series, and never really tried to be "modern". Tekken and the WWE games are the same way, as opposed to something like Grand Theft Auto, which has always tried to push the envelope much more in comparison. This is the first game since 6 where it actually looks like they're trying to make a game that looks like it was made in 2017. It shows in not only the graphical improvements, but the buttery smooth animations. Framerate has also been improved.

I'm hoping there are grabs / clashes / duels like some of the older versions. I think it was DW6 where whoever won the clash would do a finishing move.

Fist of the North star: Ken's rage had some good ideas, even if the game had meh reviews (I liked it).

If you look at the draw rate in the Zhang Liao video, it's pretty freakin' nuts. At 5:25-30ish, there's about 500 enemies on the screen with no pop-in and no FPS drop. On a technical level, this is without a doubt the best running and best looking DW game yet, surpassing 6.

I'm less excited about this game now that clones are confirmed. someone said that they will do dlc that declones characters but somehow I doubt they will declone everyone
