Something that has always blown my mind is the hatred of multiculturalism in the internet. Especially people who say that multiculturalism failed in the America. Have these people never been to California, New York, Vancouver, Toronto? Even Texas is heavily multicultural. I can go outside and eat food from any part of the world.

Europe I can kinda see since their countries have old, established and traditional cultures. But the Americans hating multiculturalism is mind blowing to me.

People don't hate adapting the best of different cultures into one.

They hate promoting bad or weird ideas for the SAKE of Multiculturalism.

Or ursuping their own culture for the sake of multiculturalism.

Or bringing back psuedo-Segregation for the sake of multicuturalism.

You get towns and cites where like 85+% of one minority group all live in the same area of town together, sometimes not even obeying the nations laws, sometimes largely not speaking the nation's language, with their own customs. And the defense is "Well it's mutlicutural!"

Multicutural is people eating Italian Pizza then doing Indian yoga before going to a French opera. Multiculuralism is Sikhs and Muslims having phillopshical debates with holy buildings that a stones throw from each other.

Multicultural should not be the 2 private Jewish schools in the UK who literally edited out all the women from the UK's curriculum schoolbooks. Where women in the 30s don't know what their period is.

Multicultural should not mean arranged marriages or children being beaten because "Well that's what we did back home."

Multicultural should not mean having a 2 square mile slice of Pakistan in Austin where the people who live there interact with the Texans as much as you interact with your old high-school teachers

Multiculturalism should not mean that the culture of the nation you live in, in this case America, is invalid because you come from a different one. It should mean you enhance American culture, not force your place alongside it

Multicultural should not be a crutch or a shield to seperate people, or justify dodgy practices. It's often used purely as a word game to deflect valid criticisms.


A metaphor: Multiculturalism should be sugar or milk to add to your tea but instead people are often knocking the tea out of your hand or pissing inside of it. Then claiming it's sugar or milk when you complain.

That's where the hatred is coming from.

No one is going "Grr, those Chinese people are teaching my niece umbrella dancing! that fills me with murder frenzy!" that's just absurd.
