You can tell most people here don't have or take care of young children.

Their sophomoric ideas that a 5 year old is actually a 2 year old and doesn't need to behave and learn proper manners and behavior is comical

To all the yes votes, you've clearly never lived with a 5yo.
Their grasp of social etiquette is nonexistent at worst, burgeoning at best. They simply parrot the themes and moods of those around them, looking for meaning in and typically without any real concept of understanding the gravity of the issuetthey've inadvertently raised.
The teacher should have known better and used it as a lesson in things they shouldn't joke about/that aren't good topics for playing around with.

I've been 5, and I've had 5 other younger siblings. None of them have been suspended from school for insubordination and/or terrorstic threats.

Hell I was literally tutoring a kindergartener how to play chess a few months ago. His attention span wavered at times but he was always well behaved and well mannered and respectful. It's called parenting

Because none of you were 5 today. This shit wasn't happening when you were a kid, unless you're only 13 now.

No insubordination and making threats about having guns and bombs was always punishable.

I actually went to a really strict school that constantly gave me detention for taking too much.

It's called having respect for authority

Except he wasn't making a threat. And the things kids have been suspended or expelled for aren't making threats either. If the definition of a "threat" today was the same as when you were a kid, you would have been bounced out on your ass so fast your head would spin. Then how much respect would you have for authority?

Furthermore I'm willing to bet dinner that this kid was being a smartass.

Highly unlikely, but it still beats your dumbass remarks.

Being 5 is old enough to understand not acting like a clown and obeying those who are your caretakers.

Except he wasn't "acting like a clown," he was just being a normal 5 y/o and, in any other day and age, any teacher would have had the common sense to write the thing off. Unfortunately, nowadays the biggest clowns are the ones we let teach.

My little siblings knew not to try me at the same age.

What?

Definitely worth keeping tabs on if I'm the school

Because you think a 5 y/o is actually at risk of bringing in a bomb? What about a 5 y/o who says a dragon is living in his shoe? Do you call the kingdom's finest dragon hunters to exterminate this scourge and then have the boy imprisoned for witchcraft?

I can tell that you aren't responsible enough to care for a puppy, let alone a child.

And your juvenile ideas that a 5 y/o is actually a teenager with the same amount of sense, foresight, self-awareness concerning imagination, etc, is laughable.

Acting like that in school and then the parents justifying it just shows their parenting skills and this kid will probably be a real little shit in the future.

Agreed. No wonder kids have no respect these days.

They have more respect today than when I was a student, yet still the sissies aren't milquetoast enough for you. Your attitude is exactly why we're seeing college students whine about microaggressions.

its not as stupid as the kid who got suspended for eating his poptart in such a way it resembled a gun. think one kid also got in trouble for doing finger guns.
