No one seems to be talking about the game. It certainly doesn't have the mainstream recognition of the kingdom hearts series, despite being an action rpg that's fun.

Was it disappointing? Did the wasted development time on the vita version bring the game down somewhat?

Or is it great and deserves all the praise and success?

I know. But that was before internet and social media, which should be able to bring more awareness to great unknown series.

I'm too busy playing it to gush about it on the internet. It's good enough that I double dipped and got the Vita version too, even, so I can play it when I'm not home

Delayed on PC still so I haven't played it yet

Played one of these on DS don't even remember which. Wasn't too bad but felt generic. Are the plots connected in 1-8 or what?

Each game after I&II is Adol going through a new land with a standalone story and maybe a couple trivial references to other games.

I haven't played a single YS game and I already am clogged with backlogs so I'll just hear what everyone else has to say about it

Try. The. Demo. It has parries, it has dodge rolls with Witch Time. Combat is far from repetitive

Though Memories of Celceta let you pick a serious or joke dialogue option for him once in a while

I haven't had any frame rate issues, even in boss fights. It slowed down a little bit when I spawned like 20 bees from the infinite hives, but it was still over 20fps by my estimate

Also load times are REALLY short, for the Vita. 5 seconds max

Meh, bring it to Switch with all the ps4 upgrades, and it will be the definitive edition.

Switch needs a Ys collection with all the PSP and Vita games....

This is like asking what the true goal for link or Mario is. They're just silent protagonists, they're not the kind of games that really focus on story as much as gameplay and music.

I've only played ys7 because that was the first ys game with party members

im playing it, i'm enjoying it for the most part.

it's like lost: the video game. i can't recall the last 'stranded on an island, gotta create a society' game i've played but this one's really good in that sense. character interactions are pretty awkward and silly but i feel like that's almost a given with jrpg's nowadays.

You should play the other entries they're really good! Oath in felghana is particularly amazing.

I want to get it at some point, but probably better later than sooner. It's apparently getting a complete re-translation because people complained so much about it.

Holy crap I can't believe they botched this so bad. Hope at least gameplay wise and performance wise it's top notch. Since that's what really matters in the end.
