Whoever told you that lied to you. I don't care if it was the Pope. The only "unforgivable sin" is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and not all Christians agree on what that is or whether it is actually unforgivable. Some scholars say that it refers to swearing eith God's name while others say it was only comittable while Jesus was on Earth in the flesh by saying to his face that he's a liar.

Actually, apparently Catholics have apparently interpreted the phrase to be a category to which six specific sins belong. I didn't know that before looking it up to post the link. Either way, homosexual acts are not in the list.

As a person raised Catholic but no longer, I want to she'd some light on Catholic life. To Catholics practically everything is a sin. How do they get through life? Confession. Catholic life is all about guilt. You commit sins probably every day and then you beg forgiveness.

A lot of them like to do it anyways, so they can give it up for lent and feel like they are doing something good :)

They're also against any form of birth control. I'm not Catholic, but went to Catholic school. If you are married and want to have sex you're supposed to plan it around your wife's menstrual cycle when shes less fertile.

Edit: Also the only unforgivable sin is Original Sin, which everyone is born with because of Adam & Eve. You get rid of it through baptism.

You would think with that with how intensely the Catholic Church rails against abortion that they would at least accept artificial birth control as a common sense measure to reduce the number of abortions that occur, and yet they refuse to do so; declaring any form of artificial birth control as a sin worthy of eternal punishment (which is the same penalty carried by abortion, of course)

Ehhh... If I'm going to hell, might as well go to hell not having a dozen children running around 'cause I couldn't wrap it before sticking it in her!
