more to it than that. try reading the novel. it's Stephen King's greatest work.

Not really, since I'm guessing Excorcist's numbers weren't adjusted for inflation, and IT is significantly nostalgia-driven.

It's not as big of an achievement as you might think, considering that R-rated horror movies generally aren't massively grossing box office draws.

Yeah, that's true. Exorcist is at 1bil if you add inflation.

Prob this, I watched the mini-series the other day really liked Curry's interpretation as 'IT' I likely won't see IT in cinema, but I plan on watching it in the future just to compare the two. From what I've seen the new 'IT' does a lot right rather than being a blatant quick cash grab shitty excuse of a remake.

Never read IT, but I'm skeptical that it could be better than Under the Dome, which is so underrated it hurts. Deserves more than a crappy TV show that has a totally different plotline than the novel.

It looks alright. I'm not a big theatre-goer anymore. My wife doesn't like horror for the most part, so she just tells me to take some other girl instead (because my only friends left around here that like horror movies are all female, but I still find it funny).

that's how I felt about IT. it deserved more than a crappy miniseries. as a kid I liked the miniseries, but when I got older I realized it wasn't that great. especially after I read the novel and saw the real story

The details are always left out. Like how "this hurricane caused more damage" but neglecting to mention an increased population, more expensive to replace infrastructure/property, etc...

I'm hoping part 2 will be just as good. The second half of the mini series is where it fell off.

that mini series was not an accurate adaption. and that's not how it ended in the book and I am sure it won't end that way in IT Chapter 2. that was a very stupid ending that everyone hates. they won't do it again. for one thing it grossly dumbs down the actual real ending and was an insult.

I think they could probably make the spider look much more horrifying with technology now. I can kind of picture Pennywise opening his mouth wide to reveal rows of sharp needle teeth, then the mouth keeps opening impossibly wide as the spider just kind of emerges from the clowns mouth and rips the body apart because of its massive size. It could still have Pennywise's laugh and voice, maybe even his massive smiling grin on the back of the spider like a black widow.

Special effects won't make it any better. The concept of a clown transforming into a spider is just stupid.

IT is scary because the clown can get you when you least expect it. A giant spider isn't going to sneak up on you when you live in the suburbs.

Well the spider doesn't really try to sneak up on them and is only present at the very end. Like the final boss fight they had with Pennywise. They beat the s*** out of him. Wasn't that scary at that point but it still had you engaged and rooting for the children who were quite literally facing their fears and coming on top. Replace a clown with a giant spider and you basically have the final boss for the last scene of IT 2.

I'm actually watching IT right now. It's good so far but certainly not a scary film. It's better then the mini series however Tim Curry definitely played a better Pennywise. The new IT is all scary clown where as Tim Curry did a better silly but scary clown.
