Sora has challenged King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans to a fight! Location of the fight: The Hot Gates - The narrow coastal pass of the Greek city-state Thermopylae where the Battle of Thermopylae between the Spartans and the Persians took place, otherwise known as the final stand of the 300. Attackers will start on the road approaching the Gates, whilst defenders will start at the fortified position. Which side will win?



Guidelines

- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Rules for Voting

- Bold your votes (using bold HTML tags).
- You do not need to require justification for your vote, though the admins reserve the right to disqualify votes in the advent of obvious alt voting and other similar scenarios.
- Leaders cannot vote for their own teams, but they are free to argue their case.
- If you want to switch your votes simply bold the change; there's no need to delete your post, though you may if you wish.
- This match will end in 24 hours.

Sora is as he appears in the Kingdom Hearts series, at the height of his powers. He has access to all attack, magic, defense and movement commands available to him in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, as well as all his spells and abilities from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+ and all of his feats from reaction commands. He may use Reality Shift and Flowmotion freely, and may enter Final Form in battle, which will not require him to absorb allies. He has 9 drive gauges, may not use summons, and may only use Limits if the appropriate allies are present.

King Leonidas I, is as seen in 300, accompanied by 299 elite Spartan soldiers. Leonidas and the rest of the soldiers come to battle in their normal war attire, each equipped with a sword, a shield and a spear.

I'll keep this one brief. As far as Sora is concerned, the Spartans are mooks. He has practice dealing with tons of enemies:

He also has Dream Drop Distance magic so not only can he smash things up but good but he can also turn invisible, pull enemies into a floating clump and render them helpless, put them to sleep, and heal himself while also blowing up everyone, like so:

And he has Final Form, so his combat power is increased even further. This isn't much of a contest, overall.

Anyway clarity aside I actually think M4 Sora is strong enough to solo Team Leonidas. It's basically one of those fights with the endless heartless fodder, because the soldiers are...well, basically fodder.

If you'd rather we don't use Final I can give him Master:

-King Mickey: Mickey will only appear for 30 seconds when Sora is defeated, and will use Healing Light when his time is up to restore him to full health and MP. If defeated, will instead restore Sora to 10% HP as he departs. He is a Heroic Male Beast, and grants Sora access to his Master Form. Mickey may not use Stopza.

This was the result of debating how the Spartans should be priced (we were sitting at 5), so the conversation went to "Well our other 5s included Sora, how would that go", then...uh, somehow we ended up here

Look, just call them The 300. Please. Otherwise it seems like there's 301 Spartans.

Honestly though this match is a genuine toss-up for me since Sora's durability is kind of ???. I'm just going to imagine that King Leonidas and he instead decide to talk it out with some gay undertones in their negotiations and decide to settle it one on one in a minigame fight since Leonidas isn't a bad guy.

Sora should be modernized from M3 aka what 2009? Lol

This is precisely why I used the build linked above. If people want to argue that Sora should get the Master form setup (onetime Mickey appearance + Master Form access only) I have no issues editing that in and asking people to revote. I just figured a simple contest of power was better than debating if Sora with a second chance can solo the spartans.

Well usually, there's this whole big game where people hire characters to fight for them. We're between games, so I assume this topic is just a test of balance.

Yeah, this is just a "for fun" match. Working on a TV/Film mercs at the moment (as opposed to the normal video game one) and we're trying to figure out where the 300 Spartans rank

This was a bad choice of a fight, because Sora has aoe magic, high speed, and flight, nothing that the 300 are strong against. I think the 300 would put up a better fight against Diablo than Sora, and there'd be some people that they'd have an advantage against because they hit a person's weakness, like i'd give the 300 at least some advantage against shulk, just because he's not a 6 when he doesn't have the people to support.

The 300 works in a team silly well with people that give buffs, like what if Gilgamesh took the entire 300 as a sidekick or the like from what I see, or Rosalina attached to, etc. Although let's not try getting them in arwings, that'd be a bad idea.

Oh wait, I'm thinking of Magnega, but yes, looks like he does have that in KH2.

Though I will say this isn't the best terrain for facing Sora as the 300. If they could muster several smaller phalanxes, one on each side, they'd have a much easier time here. As it stands they're not really maximizing their threat potential very well on this terrain.

In fact I'd consider flipping my vote to Sora if it actually mattered-- I do think the 300 are being massively disrespected here though. They're definitely way better than generic heartless goobers Sora fights. Like if they could actually surround they'd destroy him because unlike heartless goobers these guys are skilled enough that you can't just blind block shots from all sides by swinging your giant key around, and Sora's a squishy enough foe that their weaponry issue is a non issue.

That being said it's not like it's super narrow-- they can get surrounds on him, it's just not an ideal terrain for it.
