Poll of the Day > Any of you still holding on to college notes long after graduating?

I have maybe three or four boxes filled with notes from college. Some I got bound into booklets while some are still loose. I figure if/when I ever go back for my Master's, said notes might be useful. Fast forward several years later to 2017 and I find myself just working and it feels unlikely I'll ever go for my Master's.

If I do go back I'll probably need to review everything again from scratch. Have any of you kept your college notes long after graduating, are they buried away somewhere in a closest, or the first thing you tossed out after graduating?

I do. Well, not personally. All my notes and books are with my parents.

Yeah I kept mine in a file cabinet. I finally started purging my files before my move in July. I mean, I went back for my masters in related fields and I still didn't think to go back through my undergrad notes. It was a waste of space.

mostly just for nostalgia, especially exams. I don't see any of it actually being useful.

Just too lazy to clean them. They are useless. Everything I need to know I can find on the internet or books.

Unfortunately. A bunch of English, math notes, wickedly detailed science notes that have done me zero good... I'd wager they could've just feeding math down software engineering major's throats after geom and we'd have been just fine.

Definitely holding onto the books. The resell value on them was absolutely pathetic, and it's (in some psychotic way) rewarding to look at the shelf of bullshit I went through.

Just a few, I got rid of most. I wrote some good essays and stories, but just keep those in my drive. The notes themselves I only kept when they were particularly interesting to me.

Im pretty sure all my notes went straight into the trash as i was cleaning up my college apartment prior to moving out

Nope. Tossed them out at the end of each semester. Also sold any book I could, and donated the rest. Waste of space hoarding all of that crap.

Shit, I stopped taking notes altogether after my sophomore year.

I ain't savin that shit.

Interesting responses. If it matters I studied civil engineering. Majority, if not all, of the notes are probably still relevant in one way or another. Equations rarely every changes over the centuries. Only stuff that might change are code related notes. Those stuff change every few years.

even if it's relevant, who cares? their use as notes was that they were specifically relevant to the course you were taking at that time, not because having written down a particular formula is going to be important forever. if you need to look up specific formulas, use the internet or a book on the topic, or even make new documents that are relevant to what you're doing now and not some class you took 10 years ago.

If/When I do give myself a refresher I'll probably use my ol books again so the notes and homework from several years ago would be relevant still.
