Well remember, these are ultra-mainstream games of which the competitive scene is only a fraction. Other games in the series have done much better. So has Pokken, which managed number 5 despite three fewer days of sales and being a Switch exclusive port.

To really illustrate how badly it did, it only got #12 in a week where that and CARS were the only other competition.

I wonder if they'll intentionally do a complete repackage of the game in a year with all DLC and a lot of graphical improvements? I think they kinda have to to make the game viable at this point, but I have no idea if that would even work.

Poor marketing and very little that separates it from the crowd. You need to bring your A game if you want to compete in the crowded shooting market on PC; or, bring your B game but don't charge anything up front. Paladins is just Overwatch without the polish (I know it's not a direct rip-off, I'm not saying that), but one is $40 while the other is free. Why pay $30 to take a chance on Lawbreakers when you already have Overwatch, PUBG, CS:GO? Why pay $30 when Quake Champions is free?

The market on consoles is even more hostile for new shooters.

Why would this get an extensive overhaul and not something with more potential that Capcom has complete control over (Street Fighter?). I don't see any indication that Capcom will do anything other than stay the course.

Well they have said they won't do a new SFV version but nothing of the sort for MVC:I so there is that.

Anyway, another update. Japanese sales are out, MVC:I sold 8k. Pokken DX did 53k, USFII did 17k, MVC3 did 80k. This is both entertaining and sad...

Marvel never sold well in Japan through so low sales were expected, but it sold around as much as the Gunvolt Striker pack lol.

The NPD is going to be the real deal on this game's success, if it does poor there the game truly is a flop.
