Whats to stop them trying to get a new proposal through next week? Isn't that what they've been doing since the first failed bill?

After the end of the month (which is Saturday), the reconciliation period ends and they won't be able to pass it with a simple majority.

Lmao. Maybe this will give them some incentive to try and actually come up with something better than just going hard as fuck trying to simply get rid of it with no plan going forward

They didn't want a plan.

Everything was "just fine" as it was before.

Republicans don't seem to understand the value in taking small steps.

Rule of thumb: If you're trying to pass legislation, and it is overall better than what is currently in place, VOTE TO APPROVE IT, FFS. Don't wait for your absolute ideals to be met.

But it's worse than what we have right now. The GOP's plans all increase costs, increase unemployment, and put millions off healthcare plans.

Trump is going to have fun explaining to voters in 2020 why Obamacare hasn't gone anywhere.

Throw McConnell under the bus, claim he's trying to get things done but "the establishment" is fighting him, cheers of MAGA and drain the swamp.

Sadly this will work

And the camera will pan across the crowd and you will see obese women clapping and shaking their heads with smiles and tears covering their faces

Praise be to Trump

So people will be able to keep their health insurance? Wtf :(

I'm not. I just got a letter saying my Health Provider will no longer provide an ACA plan.

I don't think there are any providers in my area now. Or if they are they are some clownshoe insurance.

Shit, that sucks. Sorry to hear :(

I haven't been worried about all of this repeal shit because my insurance would likely be unaffected as it is state-provided. Essentially, a repeal would simply mean I wouldn't be able to move out of state if I wanted to continue to have insurance.

I don't have any expectations that republicans in congress have any desire to work together to make something good for the people of this country.

To be fair, there are probably some Republicans who are willing to make some minor, bi-partisan tweaks. Collins, Murkowski, McCain, and Alexander chief among them. The problem is that any bill that can get significant Democratic support is unlikely to have the support of the majority of Republican senators, let alone a majority of House Republicans. Neither Majority Leader McConnell nor House Speaker Ryan is likely to defy their caucus for this.
This is why Schumer and Pelosi schmoozing Trump with the prospect of a bi-partisan bill is brilliant: it will help direct Trump's anger towards McConnell and Ryan, thereby making it even less likely they'll ever be able to get something done.

I'm not trying to sound like there aren't reasonable republicans in congress. It's just the majority right now refuse to compromise with the other party which is why nothing will get done on regards of healthcare. And unfortunately the couple of good ones don't outweigh the bad ones.

It sucks, but hopefully I'll just be able to get on medicaid now.

I'm not too worried, tbqh. I've had a really bad year with the health industry and I'm just kind of done with it all together. I'm pretty sure my doctors scammed me out of over 10k by misdiagnosing me with kidney failure but I'm starting to think it was prediabetes since I've seemed to have a "miraculous" recovery after dropping 60 pounds that none of them are wanting to explain.

You know what the public option is? It's like the post office, a separate entity from the United States that has to be profitably self sufficient. The Obamacare exchanges are already perfect to advertise and sell the public option.
