It's not like we aren't all aware of it by now. It's probably the form of cancer with the MOST awareness at this point, aside from maybe lung cancer. There really isn't much awareness to be raised at this point. Why can't we stop with the pink ribbons now?

It is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Obviously many women are not that aware of it, as if screened early it can be cured.

No. Susan G. Komen has it right. They give 20% to research and 39% go to awareness . and if you ask the other 32% go to treament, screenings, fund raising and admin cost.

My thoughts on it is that it's the designated month to "raise" monies for breast cancer research. I went to a breast cancer awareness walk last year and that's what it was. We also, for a $10.00 donation, were allowed to decorate a luminary bag and put the name of a loved one we knew or someone we knew who had passed away from cancer. Then at dusk they were all lit up. It was very touching.

But I didn't make this topic because of some perceived gender inequality, I just think breast cancer has had its time in the sun and we don't need to give it so much attention anymore. ...
