There's no thriller elements at all. The only time it's arguably suspenseful is during the exorcism itself, which is the third act. Then it quickly shifts to a full blown horror film, the shift is also what makes it so damn scary. Anyway, yeah I agree TC, it's about rediscovering ones faith/hope. A loud noise in the dark isn't scary. A girl losing her mind and identity to a demon?
