It is a major thread of the book, and it basically amounts to "Henry Bowers is bad"... honestly if you look at the miniseries, for all its flaws in melodrama they did a pretty good job cutting out all the fat in the book. I even watched a few movies based on his books before actually picking up his works to read when I was in high school.
