I pee..

according to statistics, a normal healthy person urinates 4-10 times a day...which seems like a lot.

However if you're peeing every hour or 2 hours, you have a kidney problem or diabetes. so let's see what people will vote!.

Never counted so... no idea. Given that I drink 1.5-2.5 gallons of water (sometimes soda for part of it) a day, I definitely wind up peeing more than 10 times.

Given that it's 4-10, why did you set the maximum cutoff so low?

9+ seems right. I drink a lot of tea and have the bladder of a 3 year old girl so.

3-4 which I thought was high. I drink a lot of coffee. I don't get how almost all the votes are for 7+ times... aren't you all younger people?!

well, I thought 2-3 would be normal, 4 is getting high, and anything over that would be problematic. (could be I'm just bad at counting)

I'm 30 so take that as you will. You must have a big bladder or something.

7-8. But I also drink about 6-8 liters of water, 2 liters of diet pop, and various amounts of juice/milk/coffee a day.

How the hell could you think 3-4 is high? What could possibly give that impression? Otherwise, coffee can dehydrate you so... I guess there's that? I would still assume that the intake would exceed whatever is burned off so, if you truly drank a lot of coffee (and given that you thought you peed a lot, you probably drink far less than you think), it would still need to come out.

And, while I'm guessing I'm probably older than you (by a few thousand years), even when I was a kid I still used the can a lot. Perhaps more than I do now.

A myth. Yes, caffeine does dehydrate you to some extent, but the water in coffee is enough to counteract that.

if I have 4 cups of coffee in a day, I might go twice at work. if I have 1-2 cups, I might not need to go at all at work.

then at home, I go once in the morning, once in the evening. (I think... not like I keep track though.)

I figured the needing to go so much at work was caused by the coffee (diuretic), so I figure a "normal" day would be going once in the morning, once in the evening, with maybe 1 extra time every now and then.

but 11 votes for 9+ times... I don't get that. you go MORE than twice in the morning, 4 times at work, and twice in the evening??? 9 times is once every 1 3/4 waking hours. you can't even sit through a movie without needing to go at least once? maybe that might make sense for someone obese, diabetic, and/or elderly.

Something which I acknowledged shortly afterward in the same post, which I notice you didn't quote. More importantly, a tendency to dehydrate doesn't mean a net loss, it just means a lower net than other beverages.

I think that puts you on the low-end of coffee drinkers. Otherwise, I'm not sure I met anybody who never had to not go at work.

Obesity has no correlation with weight gain, as far as I know. Diabetes supposedly does, but I know diabetics who only go 5 times a day. And I'm not sure that age makes you more likely to need to go so much as it means you have less control over when you go. I think my grandma -- who is in a nursing home now -- only goes a few times a day, but sometimes she also wets herself because the aides aren't taking her to the restroom at the right time.

In general, webmd notes that the average person pees 6-8 times per day, and it's normal for somebody to pee 10 times a day -- despite your bizarre claims
http://www.webmd.com/urinary-incontinence-oab/rm-quiz-urine-normal
"Most people urinate between six and eight times a day. But if you're drinking plenty, it's not abnormal to go as many as 10 times a day. You may also pee more often if you're taking certain medications, like diuretics for high blood pressure."

If you're peeing *less* than that number, you might need to see a doctor. Keep in mind that, if you're peeing frequently enough, your urine should be almost clear. If it's yellow or darker, that's usually a sign of underhydration which can lead to liver damage among other problems:
"While eight glasses of water a day will likely help keep you well-hydrated and help flush toxins from your body, you don't need to be so rigid. How much H2O is enough? When your pee is light yellow or almost clear, you're drinking enough water. When you don't drink enough liquid, your pee can turn dark gold."

Generally speaking, the amount you pee is usually in proportion to overall intake. If somebody drinks more, they're going to pee more. If somebody isn't hydrating, they probably won't need to pee at all (other than what was already in their system)

You think that's a lot? No wonder you don't need to pee much as that's not even scratching the surface on how much fluid intake per day the average person would drink.

Some people drink more so pee more. Not hard to understand.

Depends how much I've had to drink before. There is no constancy in how frequently I need to pee. It's even more if I'm out drinking alcohol but the time I'm awake seems to be longer during that time so. Ah well better out than in I suppose.

3 or 4 times a day.

Which, according to my doctor, means I'm dehydrated and I'm doing damage to my health by not drinking more.

Been battling a cold today so was drinking a lot less which I realize meant I was peeing less, a fact I realized when my urine was an moderately deep amber color. So yeah, changes are *very* noticeable.

7-9 I guess, but I have a higher liquid intake compared to the average person I know. not as bad as I used to be though, used to drink a 12 pack of soda a day, but nearly causing myself to become diabetic (thank god I caught it early) slowed that down.

actually its weird when working or doing something where it would inconvenient to need to go, I for some reason don't need to go as often, but when im sitting around at home doing nothing much important my need to go spikes. can't really explain it other than possibly a subconscious thing.

though what I said also depends on the job. i've had jobs before where I could pretty much get up and go whenever the hell I needed to without it effecting my work as much, and those situations my need to go spiked there as well. (but in all fairness said job I could also get away with drinking whenever the hell I wanted too, as in literally have a drink with me at all time and didn't need to walk to a break room or something)

First thought was around 7, but then I broke it down:

One every morning right after waking up

Two between arriving at work and leaving for lunch

Two-three between finishing lunch and leaving for home

Maybe 4-5 between getting home from work and going to bed (one of which comes during my afternoon dump)

So I voted 9+ because that feels right after breaking it all down. I drink a lot of water.
