I finally decided I would upgrade my bedroom furniture (that is get bedroom furniture. I currently own a double bed, no dresser, no nightstand. I just hang all my clothes in the closet.)

So new bed, mattress, dresser, and two nightstands... $3500. Plus sheets and bedding at another $200. And the baffling part is most people have since told me that's a really good price. So people are clearly used to paying a lot more than that

This damn furniture better outlast me...

Don't have it yet, will be getting it after work today. But here's a stock image I found online.

...I needed more storage space <_<

And bought it from a local furniture store called Continental.

I like it, especially the shelving on the back of the bed.

I need somewhere to store all my books. And tools. And various other knick knacks like extension cords and paperwork.

I liked it as well, though I can't wait until I inevitably bang my head on a shelf when I got up one morning.

You just wish your bed had 12 drawers, two cupboards, and doubled as a bookshelf.

That's at least 4 of the 12 drawers obviously.

Seriously though, those things are gonna be a bitch to move.

For mine, I just got a casper mattress and a bedframe on amazon.

https://goo.gl/S1GG6N

Then I bought a couple of small end table type things for cheap. Including the mattress which was like 950, I ended up spending something like 1300 total.

I didn't buy any dresser though because fuck dressers. That's what closets are for.

Hopefully it won't be too bad. The bed actually comes in 4 or 5 pieces and is latched together, so that should making moving it much easier. I don't think that monstrosity would even fit in my place if it were in one piece... It'd be hell getting it down the hallway and into the bedroom anyways.

That is a good deal. I do not have a ton of money so I just bought an 80 dollar bed frame on Amazon and it was a good purchase for me.

Not the style of furniture I would go for, but yea that is a pretty good deal for that.

This is my bedroom set, I think it cost me around $3000.

edit: Actually the one in the picture is a little lighter then the one I have. Mine is more of a dark walnut instead of the more oak color that is.

Certainly fair. I was avoiding furniture more similar to yours as I didn't really want the "antique" feel that that style of furniture gives off. It looks nice, just not really what I was going for.

There are cheaper options. Technically speaking, you could even buy non-matching furniture then either paint or varnish it.

That said, kudos on having drawers under the bed. While I question issues pertaining to comfort, I admire the practicality.

Well, it's not a *terrible* price, but there are cheaper options even before you get down to the lifehack level. I don't know if you have a Bob's Furniture in your area, but you could probably get a bedroom set -- fewer drawers, though -- for maybe half that price.

Books belong on shelves, not hidden away in drawers... unless you have a certain *kind* of book you don't want displayed. Is that it? What are you hiding?

because you are playing for a life style. they know who has money based off the style of the furniture.

Furniture has a huge cost increase. usually it's 3 time the acutal cost. so if you buy a recliner that is $900 it cost the store acutally $300 to buy it from the vendor.

Mostly old textbooks. While I could theoretically display them, I doubt most people would be interested in thermodynamics or the fundamentals of reservoir engineering.

Though I do currently have a giant container just filled with random sci-fi and fantasy novels that I really need to do something with.

Most people don't admire your bedroom set. Sure, there's women, but you really need to impress them *before* they get to your bedroom.
