30% stupid memes
30% half-assed takes on the "news" filtered through somebody severely lacking critical thinking skills
30% combinations of the above two
10% actual updates about what's going on in people's lives

Remember when it was almost 100% the last one? It's just pointless to use Facebook now. I wish there was a social network that was like Facebook used to be, but I assume everything is infected by memes now

Lots of people use Facebook. There are certainly a lot of older people using it now, but I still know a ton of young people on it.

I don't really even know what Whatsapp does. I sort of understand Instagram and Snapchat but I don't get what could possibly be interesting enough about the average person's life that they need to take pictures of it everyday. I just want something where I can see updates about what my friends are up to without having to sift through piles of shit.

I get a lot of memes and alt-news bullshit, but some of it is unsourced information (ie, no listed meme or alt-news) while a good chunk is also just photos from peoples' lives.

It's not used by the trendy crowd these days, it's more a matter of late-adopters and people who use it to manage connections. Granted, you still find a lot of young people on Facebook and Twitter despite no longer being the "cool" thing which, tbh, is really Instagram's territory until the next big thing comes along.

Yeah, but back before it became the norm to "like" a bunch of pages that just shared memes, nobody was posting memes on their own. I don't even know if you could share stuff from other pages the way it used to work. It's still just a bunch of reposting now even if the source isn't immediately obvious

Half my feed shows up with shit from Vice News and Shaun King, the other half is from weird alt-right shit like Infowars (that I have never once been to).

I just have weird friends I guess.

its just how it goes, the opposing side always finds a way to blame the president for everything.

with obama it became a thing to sarcastically say "thanks obama" anytime something bad happened.

Although that eventually expanded to the point that people would knowingly say "thanks Obama" in response to things he couldn't possibly have had an effect on, so that it became a way to mock people who blame Obama for everything rather than actually expressing contempt for Obama.

even people who hate obama would say it to things he couldn't have had a hand in. it just kinda became a running joke.

what kills me is when people blame whoever the current president is for a hurricane. has happened to bush obama, and trump that I know of. most of the time its joking, but i've seen some who seemed serious about the accusation.

Dunno, but that'd be kind of an odd case. Usually it's the fire and brimstone type preachers who push that sort of thinking.

Uh, okay. I just looked at this subreddit and I don't see how my post fits. I know that complaining about Facebook is really overdone, but it really does suck. It might have been "teenager edgy" to complain about it ten years ago, but I think now it's legitimately very worthy of criticism
