So someone is broadcasting a stream of them playing some type of competitive game. Then someone on the enemy team watches their stream on a separate screen and uses that information to beat them/the streamers team.

Is it cheating? Or by streaming live on twitch, is the streamer giving everyone, regardless of who they are permission to view their stream?

There's an easy solution if you are stream sniped: stop fucking streaming.

I have no sympathy for these crybaby manchildren bitches that complain people are stream sniping them on PUBG or anything else.

No. It might not be strictly fair, but it's not cheating when he's showing the world where he is.

Sure, but can you can always put a delay, otherwise don't complain.

Only other exception is if you have another streamer on your team and they have no delay, in which case yeah go ahead and complain

My friend and I used to play Siphon Filter VS mode, with a vertical split. We made a cardboard barrier that we put on the TV to block the view of the other player's half of the screen.

Found an image online. This is the concept:

Cheating implies an unfair advantage. But someone willingly streaming their gaming session for anyone to watch kind of makes me lean towards it being fair game. That's on you man

I mean if they're gonna get butthurt about the competitiveness of a game then don't stream while you're playing competitively. They're making thousands of dollars playing a game, the only time I feel bad for them is that SWATTING bullshit. That said, stream sniping is lame and you're lame if you do it.

Nope.

If you play poker and you're actively showing your hand to other people, is it cheating for your opponent to call your bluff knowing you have jackshit.

I wouldn't call it fair, but you can't broadcast yourself to the entire globe and expect to have the usual playing field.

How is that not cheating? While streaming yourself while being in some sort of competition is dumb, it doesn't absolve the cheaters. Seriously?

It's cheating.

That doesn't necessarily mean that I feel bad for people who it happens to.

Whether something is cheating or not isn't based on how easy something is to get away with.

Depends on the game. Some games like PUBG consider it cheating and will ban people if they find they do it repeatedly. Others couldn't care less.

For me? I consider it self defeating. You keep doing it, the streamer will go play something else and your fun comes to an end.

Why is it stream "sniping" anyway?

More like stream espionage, or they could just call it stream peeking.

Idk but I remember it made pokemon battle streams unwatchable when it started.

Not necessarily because it was even happening, but because streamers started to blame every single misprediction on "oh I'm being stream sniped that's how they know what I'm going to do".

What's cheating about it? They're playing the game with the same rules and aren't using any hacks or game exploits, they're just tuned into something that the streamer is putting other there on their own volition.
