Something like Battletoads or Contra 3... you call them easy, even though there's lighter games you're not good at.

But you grew up with them, so they're second nature easy for you.

Is there a word for that that isn't.... condescending?

idk I have the opposite problem, when I go back to games I played as a kid I generally find them harder than I remember them being. but I can only figure because modern game has softened me up a bit, as I usually can eventually get back into the swing of it.

I was like that with the first 2 Mega Man games, like I could play them through 100% without getting hit because I pretty much played them constantly as a kid. Nowadays I tend to not be that great with them, but I can still usually complete them in one sitting (like 1 - 2 hours).

I think it's that you have less patience relative to the depth of the game. it's not worth the time to master like it was before.

I actually didn't master them back then. I didn't beat the original super mario bros until I was an adult actually. (ended up getting SMB 3 before beating the original as a kid)

I think either modern gaming has softened me, or its the fact kids learn and adapt easier than adults.

It was more of a mission than a game... used to be able to ace this on veteran every 1/3 times. All my friends and apparently the internet struggled with it.
