He said the Police Force and Blake threw him under the bus after video surfaced in 2015 with the encounter occuring outside a Manhattan hotel. He says James painted out him as an "out of control and corrupt officer" in his new book "Ways of Grace" The public perception has not only led his family fleeing from his home in fear of public threats to their safety but it RUINED a "good man's career, name and reputation" He's also attacking the NYPD and the Department of Civilian Complaint Review Board for blasting him for what he believes was an honest mistake James said that day "I have a family to go home to. I'm a crowded sidewalk, with a possibly armed suspect in the middle of 42nd street. You have to take control of the situation. I can't just be pulling out my gun" 2 years ago, Blake was leaning up against the Manhattan hotel waiting for a ride to the US Open until James went out of his mind and grabbed him and tackled him to the ground and handcuffed him!! But he was let go after officers realized it was a mistake as the incident went national and there was conversation over biased policing with the mayor of New York and police commisioner issuing an apology. But James offered his own account what happened as he was monitoring the hotel suspecting a fraud ring and felt Blake was a "striking resemblance" to the alleged suspect, Sean Satha. Sean, former investment banker turned sunglasses maker was also mistakenly identified as a suspect however!! After the mistake, James and Blake "shook hands" and patted each other on the back but the case blew up on social media but Blake asserted that he should have his badge REMOVED as it's happened more than once with other men!!. tbh, given the number of black men getting wrongly shot by officers, not sure why tackling a suspect is unreasonable or controversial. The only issue is that he got the wrong guy which could be an honest mistake. And yeah, a celeb defaming a person can destroy them.
