I don't play very often, and there's a big timezone difference between us, so I haven't had any chance to talk to him aside from that one time I told him that people here were concerned over his sudden disappearance. I guess if I remember to go on in the morning I might catch him.

Going back to Tales of Link....there have been signs that the Japanese version might be shutting down soon, which of course doesn't bode well for the Global version. Would not be surprised if Namco shuts down the game sometime this year, and because of this I'm trying to rush through the story. Now I wonder if they'll even bring the 2nd story over.

Nah, its lifespan would be pretty normal for most mobile games. Namco still has 2 other Tales mobile games with Asteria and Rays that are still going. Since Namco has so many mobile games, some of them just come and go.

Anyways the change that I'm talking about is that the in-app purchase store has been made in Japan that they can ONLY buy 1 Hero Stone at a time, which is a HUGE pain if you want to buy 50 for a multipull. It's done in an effort to deter people from buying Stones and Namco has done this to games before shutting them down.

I can confirm Chinese people are like that in the mainland. The people attending these events are usually very rich and they do stuff like this because they can flaunt their wealth and have no repercussions since they have connections to the Communist Party.

The DOTA 2 thing looks like it's because the caster was being very unprofessional. From what I've watched of LoL Worlds tournaments that takes place in China the casters are very professional and they don't make political commentary. One of the things you don't do in China as a foreigner is be obnoxious and disrespectful especially on stream because there will be English speaking Chinese people watching the streams translating for the equivalent reddit/twitter/facebook crowd.

It's a bit more complicated than that because James always acted like that and its part of why people like him. Valve just kind of decided they didn't want him to act like that anymore and never told anyone (including him from what was said).

Then they kind of just unceremoniously fired him with Gabe famously saying "James is an ass and we will no longer be working with him." Which is... quite the statement from the head of Valve, to say the least.

It was very ??? for all sides involved.

Also the tournament was incredibly poorly run in general with tons of delays and last minute cancellations of events and the like.

It's easily the worst tournament in pro Dota history.

That's super upsetting... I really do feel bad for the regular people that went.
