Just started VERY recently and mostly been doing odd jobs in Gridania and got to level 2 after picking up vegetable offerings left behind by Sylphs

FATEs are just active events that happen on the field so you get more exp and such. Usually it just involves killing a bunch of stuff, kill a boss, or collecting things.

Get use to how they work because the Yo-kai Watch event is all about doing FATEs.

You can start that event whenever you get access to Gold Saucer.

Also some tips for leveling: try to get into a free company (guild). Most of them constantly have a buff up that gives a boost to EXP and there's usually a few shouting open recruitment in city centers. You can also eat food for another small boost (I think fresh water from tradecraft merchants is cheapest). And if anyone here is on Behemoth they can refer you and get you a head gear that boost EXP until level 25.

Ugh I hate these Siege Fates. Dunno what they're called, but basically defend objectives until time runs out, but there's no ****ing way I can deal with these alone.

Took down Tree Sapling while underleveled, feels good man

But it didn't do anything other than normal attack so it's just a false sense of security for future overleveled enemies who I'm sure have nasty tricks up their sleeves.

As far as I know this got fixed in Stormblood so that True Thrust -> Vorpal Thrust actually beats it now... which means that Impulse Drive is now a dead skill until you get its combo. They really need to take a look at how a lot of the jobs play at lower levels.

Yeah I was about to mention that True Thrust 150 + Combo Vorpal Thrust 240 = 390 and Impulse Drive is 190 x 2 = 380 and thought there's like some secret in Impulse Drive

You get an XP bonus from chain killing mobs within a time limit (time remaining shows under your XP bar)

You can pretty safely disregard it though. 99.9% of your leveling will come from just doing the MSQ and daily leveling dungeon roulettes.

Anyway, Gillad (or whoever it was in The Bannock) just assigned me to save a Conjurer in the Spirithold, and if I'm not mistaken, I'm about to fight a Golem from the pic Eesh.

Also progressed a bit in the Lancer Guild, wasn't expecting a Dojo challenger.

Also also I tried to do this quest where I had to lay down some flowers in the Tam Tara Deepcroft... but the ****ing Magicked Bones were too much for me. Like, it's a ****ing swarm of undead.

I mean if it wasn't for the supply and demand issues it wouldn't be that big of a deal to get a house. 3.5 mil gil for a small is pretty easily doable even for people that don't do gathering/crafting if you just buy a house straight up and don't go through another player.

The real problem is there's just not nearly enough plots for how many people want houses + there's no restrictions on people owning multiple lots so you kind of get 'land barons'. It's pretty dumb.

You might have a chance of getting a house next week when the new expansion area's housing area opens up and everyone desperately tries to buy a house and move there. I wouldn't count on it, though.

If you mean something like dodge roll or side-step, you cant do that. Dodging is simply dont get in the path of the AoE.

You will always take hits from auto-attacks and some massive attacks are just unavoidable.

Every Primal is summoned repeatedly. In particular the main 3 from ARR (Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda) have all been summoned and defeated multiple times in the past. It's what makes them so dangerous- you literally can't put them down for good.

You turn and strafe. Most people hold right mouse button and use W/A/D to move and dodge. You don't generally want to just back up unless you're fine tuning a position.

You'll also get another ability as Dragoon later on called Elusive Jump which backflips you backwards and reduces the aggro you have by half, which is useful to dodge a lot of things. Also to probably kill you a few times as you backflip into another AoE or off a platform. Everybody does it eventually!

Nope. Getting those trophies for crafting 1000 times drove me nuts because you just needed to queue up 100 at a time and then walk away for half an hour.

If you have enough materials you can say "oh hey craft 99 of this one item" and then it should auto it, although it'll still be one at a time as I said.

I don't remember how to queue them up like that though, been a while since I've played FF14.

There's a Quick Synthesis option, but I think you need to unlock it somehow by getting the crafter to 10 or 15. Also the failure rate is higher until your stats improve.

Oh god I've got to wait until my huge lumbering Dragonkin fails finishing making 12 orders of Hard Leather for Geva.

Decided to join the Leatherworks (AND DESTROYED ALL MY PELTS FOR NOTHING), Botanists, and Carpentry. Going to leave Archery and Conjuring aside for later, I just need the 1 combat class for now.

Just an FYI if you plan to get into crafting at all, you will basically need to level every crafting job. You can't do much as only a single crafter- every job feeds into the others a great deal (like they make mats for each other etc).

Yeah I thought as much when I saw one of the Carpentry Crafts log needed a Circle of Leather.

Still, I'm guessing these craftsman Guilds aren't all that's offered in the game. More in other cities?

Yeah there are 8 crafting and 3 gathering jobs

And 15 combat (though 5 of those won't be available to you until you get to level 50 (which unlocks Red Mage and Samurai) and finish the ARR storyline (which unlocks Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist))
