-Downsize embed images: This is the change GameFAQs needs most. Reason I don't have the embed feature turned on is because I don't want to see gigantic pictures when I click a topic. Embed pics should be downsized by default. Embed pics becoming fullsized when you click on them is fine, but they need to be downsized by default.

-Avatars: Why not? It'd give this place more personality. Just make them optional and they'd be good.

-Status updates: Again, more personality to this place.

display images on-hover 500 ms delay - better to keep the aesthetic of an old style and traditional message board.

Lose the emojis in the state they're in. They look like garbo, at least on my machine. If you're going to include them, do it via embedded stylized image/interpolated text and not native emoji characters.

reduce the adspace at the north end of the site: if you really need advertisement, set it as a fixed size static banner content at the bottom of the page.

A big hell no to avatars and to anything that breaks vertical layout. I like the oldstyle gamefaqs sheets where names are above posts and there's no sidebar.

lol, just don't post status updates if you don't want to use them.

GameFAQs has been barebones for over 20 years now; why not make it more of a modern style message board already? Seems like SBAllen's been slowly making it one with how he added features like user tags, embed images/videos and most recently, emojis. The next logical step would be avatars and status updates.

And you can just turn these features off if you don't want them.

I'd love for GameFAQs to have avatars, they can always make it an option so the people who don't like the idea could disable them if they want.

I mean, they're already there in the community page and we can even see them just by clicking on someone's username on the boards so I guess it wouldn't be hard at all to have an option to make them visible by default in every post.
