I run, and been doing it soley outdoors for 5 years.

But perhaps its time to join a gym, since it will get dark earlier and colder, and rainy days.
I would mostly use the treadmill, but also try to get into weights to tone up my upper body.

And there is a planet fitness I can walk to from my apt. And its only $5 to join.

Its never only $5 to join... please remember that.

If you do join, think about what you want from being a gym member. talk to a trainer. They can show you how to properly workout to get the results you want. Their time has a price.

Fuck them, they lunk alarmed me twice at two different locations and I'm quiet as fuck, within reason at least. The first time was just for breathing completely reasonably after 45 minutes of HIIT cardio and I had just started lifting, and the second was because when I was putting the weights down I'd drop them roughly 4" instead of sitting all the way down.

I've never gone back after the second time.

Are you a landwhale looking to lose weight?

Then it is adequate.

Are you a cardio bunny?

Then its good.

Are you seriously trying to bulk and build lean muscle?

Well then it is trash.

But I may get passionate about running and giving off energy.

I understand they don't want buff dudes showing off.

But nothing wrong with being passionate.

If I were you I'd avoid them then, but maybe your local one is better. I agree wholeheartedly, those buff dudes that grunt like crazy and drop heavy weights loudly over and over as if they're just trying to get eyes on them is obnoxious but I'm not like that at all, I'm a pretty quiet dude and I keep to myself in the gym, I don't like drawing attention to myself or having eyes on me, which is why it pissed me off when they did the alarm on me, the first place just gave a warning, the other said it was mandatory that they ask you to leave if they set it off for you.

FYI, Lunk Alarms are at the discretion of whoevers working. Ive gone to my PF for years and have never seen it go off, and Ive seen completely jacked dudes going nuts in there.

So, just get a sense for if its chill there or not.

I'd definitely suggest this, just try it out first and see if you like it and if you have one that isn't run by weirdos who expect you to be dead silent or something.

Planet Fitness is a fine starting gym. You'll never need to wait on cardio machines, unless you're at a really small branch. They're open 24/7. They have a nice selection of weight machines and decent amount of dumbbells (up to 75 lbs.). They also have kettlebells and recently installed battle ropes & monkey bars. I would recommend it if muscle-building isn't your main goal.
