Going to the theater to see a movie not fit for children just to have a little brat squirming/crying/screaming/babbling near you is the worse.
One of the movie theaters I go to literally had to ban <13 yo kids (even if with parents) in the evening because of that. When that one (its small) doesn't have the movies I want to see, I just go to a theater a little further out that is considered overpriced. No one brings kids there because of it. Its awesome. ... I haven't seen this movie but I feel like i've seen worse at least in terms of blood/gore at younger. I still vividly remember seeing alex murphy (later in the movie robocop) getting shot to hell and back, I was like 5 or 6.
also saw the first 2 terminator movies at a really young age. as said I haven't seen this movie so I don't know how much violence is actually in it, from what I recall of the original it didn't seem like a whole hell of a lot. --- Cid- "looks like that overgrown lobster just got served!" Got into the theatre and was waiting for them to let people in for the screening. Waiting next to me was a youngish parent couple with their boy. He was well past the toddler stage but still a youngster. My guess is probably 5 or 6. He wasn't the most articulate and he had an armful of stuffed animals in tow. I wondered what movie they were waiting for. More people were lined up and waiting, and as they opened the gates for different films, everyone from the back trickled forward and to their theatres.
But not the IT crowd. I saw the family staying put. And I thought "shit, this kid is not gonna have a good time." We're invited in. The family sits across the aisle from me and one row back. They put their young son in the aisle seat in the row in front of them. Him and his trio of teddies. Getting upset the movie wasn't on. Oh, you sweet young thing. At this point, I step out of the theater room to use the toilet. Immediately as I exit, a stranger comes up and comments "my cousin saw that movie and it scared the SHIT out of him." He matches my direction and my stride and we walk the hall. "He saw the original, that scared him, but not as much as this one" "Yeah, it looks like a pretty intense one," I say. "There's a little kid in the theater, I think he's not gonna like being so scared." "SHIT he's gonna be real fuckin' scared. Poor kid. Not for kids!" "Yeah man!" We part ways as quickly as we met, his path leading to American Made as I made my way into the bathroom. Business was done and this topic was made. Back into the theatre, in the seat, waiting patiently for the show time. This theatre is notorious for starting late and tonight didn't disappoint. The seats had filled up a bit and the boy was moved back next to his mother so some group of adults could sit together. At least he was near a parent for when shit went bad. And yes, it went bad.
Georgie was older than this boy, most definitely. But not by too many years. Maybe the boy saw a little of Georgie in himself. Maybe he looked up to Georgie. It's hard to say. When Georgie Given how tame that intro part was in the movie, yeah, things got worse. That boy did not like any of the scenes in the bathroom. Especially the one where Bev Even if it wasn't for the very graphic, shocking violence at parts, this is a terrible idea for young ones for the language. Like yeah it's funny for adults to watch child stars say it, but when your 5 year old starts calling people motherfucker and talking about his dick it won't go so well. It was an immensely terrible movie for that boy to be brought to. He did not have a good time. As everyone was leaving, I overheard the father say to the mother "I bet he's scared of clowns now." The boy weakly said "nooooo I'm not." with tears on his face. His parents laughed at him. I just feel bad for that child, really. It didn't ruin my moviegoing experience (that kid kept it quiet I will give him credit there). It was sad to see parents treating a child that way. --- Never write off the Doctor! ...
