Ones actually owned by the publishers, the ones who will forever be destined to never work on anything other than what their corporate overlords dictate and watch as all the hard work they put into their games get undermined by being hobbled and carved up to satiate the insatiable avarice of a few greedy old dudes in suits who have no real care or respect for videogames and only see them as objects designed to make money and nothing more

Must be soul crushing

Many publishers blacklist certain key workers who try to jump ship and will spread that across the industry, making that publisher you just left or are trying to leave pretty much their only option for employment in that field

Not really

I've read that Ask a Game Dev tumblr, and going off what they say, the developers are not as heartbroken about publishers demands as their defenders make them out to be.

Considering the ask a game dev blogger has remained anonymous, okay, whatever.

But I agree, they, for the most part, do leave because of toxic work conditions. Not so much because of their work being hacked up for microtransactions or whatever other ideas TC seems to think.
