I am jealous of anyone that works in a brewery. From what I have seen they encourage you to drink their beer.

TC can I ask how much they pay you at the brewery though, and what you actually do (besides drink beer).

Literally drink beer. I do blind taste tests to make sure the beer is properly brewed/fermented and has the appropriate taste/smell before distribution. Outside of that I bartend the brewpub a few days and upsell beer when we host events for potential investors/catering/expanding into new restaurants and bars/etc.

Depending on how things go I may start learning how to actually brew.

Last night I seriously just sat on my ass sampling various beers with food pairings.

As for money I make $15/hr before bartensing tips and thr nightly 1% tipout of total sales (any beer, food, merch, etc that gets sold while I work that day).

In 2 weeks we are hosting an event where I will be pairing select beers of ours with cigars and various food/desserts. This is seriously the best job Ive ever had by far. I should get a respectable pay raise once I finish the first level Cicerone program

Its pretty dope and with how the craft beer industry is exploding it shouldnt be too difficult lanfing a job at a brewery/taproom. I literally started this job washing dishes in the kitchen and through my small knowledge of beer and dedication to our product I worked my way out of the minimum wage dishpit to becoming a semi valuable employee for day to day operations.

Its all about a passion for beer and learning all the ins and outs. One of the most essential tips I can give is to dedicate yourself to the product and put no job below you. Like I said, I went from scraping dishes to basically quality control and marketing/distribution assistance. A strong work ethic, desire for knowledge, and proper networking is really all you need. Or thats been the case for me at least
