Should the US Gov create a National ID Card like other countries?

Arguments For: We basically already use Social Security for identity for cases where identity is important. Unfortunately, Social Security is not very secure as it was never designed to be used as a National Identity card. Creating a National ID card would make things much more secure.

Arguments Against: Creating a National ID card goes against what this country is for. The government will have too much power if they create national identity cards.

Yes. The use of SSN for almost anything and everything was never the intent of the program or is it secure. Bring on a free, standardized, secure, uniform national ID.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

The government has more control over you and if you're above 18 I believe, you have to carry your National ID card with you always.

A Passport is not a national ID, even if everyone had one.

Most places take it as a legal form of ID so therefore it works as one. And is far better suited than Social Security, and already in place.

Lol it's not the same thing at all. Just because they accept it as a legal form of ID does not mean it is a nationally-issued and mandated ID.
