It's a very polarizing topic of discussion, it seems. I mean, car drivers and passengers are required to wear seatbelts, and motorcycles are potentially even more dangerous than cars are.

I strongly agree with and support the helmet law, anyone who doesnt is being foolish as hell.

Not a rider yet but I will never be riding without the proper gear and helmet, I value my life a lot.

Sadly many states don't require it. Even a poorly run country like Indonesia requires it. Although they don't really enforce it.

It's a catch-22 for some people. Their vision or hearing could be hindered and helmet headaches are a real thing. IIRC there's also a thing where car drivers are more likely to disregard the space of motorcycle riders if they see them with a helmet.

No.
If they want to kill themselves, let them. If they suffer a major head injury they're probably dead before EMTs can arrive. Free organs, no burden on health insurance. Also motor cycle licenses should require organ donor status.

@Anarchy_Juiblex

No motorcycle licenses should NOT require donor status, not every rider is going to die on the road nor are all riders reckless.

Nope, and you shouldn't be required to wear a seatbelt either.

I always wear both but if someone doesn't want to, I don't think the government should be concerned with protecting morons from themselves. They're not endangering anyone else.

Ejected passengers pose a risk to everyone else on the road.

For fuck's sake, would you guys please stop trying to control other people's lives? These are adults. If their choice to not wear a helmet interfered with your ability to change a tire, make a left turn or text while driving, then you might have an argument. And don't give me that crap about the emergency room expenses either because these reckless motorcyclists also pay taxes.
