Oh! And it was on discount. The original price was 1700! That can't be legal. Just can't. It seemed somewhat ok until they showed me that "offer".

Game was mining quest 2 or something like that.

mobile games are shit. I don't even use my phone for games. I gave up on them. if I want to play a game on the go, I'll just turn on my 3ds.

Yeah i know they are 98% shit, but asking 700 for a starter pack, which original price was 1700? That's fucking insane. How they have even balls to ask for that much??? I uninstalled it asap and wrote a negative review for that shit game.

It could possibly illegal, if you are in a country where off sale prices have to be legit. And since iOS doesn't allow sales of items for more than 999.99, if I'm not mistaken, the offsale price couldn't be 1700.

But just on its face, no, that's not a criminal amount of money.

I still have never played a mobile game. How do these money packs work? Can you not play the game unless you buy a new money pack every week? Or can you just not progress? Or is it just a "level up. Ten levels by buying this" or what?

alot of mobile games make just playing the game normally super slow. it's technically possible to progress for free but it takes a very very VERY long time. there is one game I heard of where it would take years to acomplish certain goals for free. but if you pay, you progress instantly.

In "free" games they usually sell gems or other premium currency you can buy with real money. Those gems can speed up the gameplay in many ways like no need to wait 36 hours for something to get upgraded or they charge you x amount of gems to buy something permanent.

Funny thing is that those gems can't and won't be refunded. Your kid bought gem pack with 300 dollars? Tough luck. If there is some absurd amount like 1k money used and it becomes news the company might refund you 1/3 back if even that.

Thats why they sell those extremely expensive starter packs, or give constant gem deals to make stupid kids or people with serious addiction problems to make a bad choice and buy something.

Those games are very shallow. If you took all those nickel and diming + timers away, and imagine them as just normal, fair games, they are just really boring and shallow. The companies just makes some really quick and slaps all kinds of artificial breaks and shit to slow the player down. Then they use all kinds of psychological shit to try to make them feel super rewarding and hide the fact that those games are just poorly made cash grabs.

It's not legal. It's just that people who could make it illegal are unaware this is happening, or they don't take it seriously enough to limit this kinda shit.

We were spoiled by video games have normalized prices, but in Japan where a great portion of games come from, they don't even have normalized prices. A lot of their niche games are overpriced, and nothing can change it because people just don't complain enough and first point also can be repeated here

I think because you can see past the bullshit. My eyes got opened when i first imagined the game without those freemium mechanics. Would it be a good game. Fuck no

. I don't think those companies even makes games for actual gamers. They make them for kids, people with addiction problems, and actually people who don't play games usually. All of these have no patience and want that instant progress. Its like they try to suck up as much money as possible from people at the start.

Oh, and one common feature with all the companies who makes those shitty money pit fake games. They all want you to review the game like within 10 min into the game, and many even just asks for 5 stars without possibility to choose between 1-5, nope just "enjoying this game? Give us 5 star rating".
