Super Mario World
- There's an alternate final boss fight where you battle Bowser outside of the Koopa Clown Car

There is a visible back door to his castle, but it only leads to the same boss fight as before.

Mortal Kombat II
- There's a nude code.

A friend told me he'd seen it and that the characters are completely nude, except the masked characters still wear masks. I think that bit about the masks is why I believed it.

GoldenEye
- Mayday appears in one of the bonus stages

This one was pretty easy to believe if you haven't made it to the bonus levels. I didn't have internet back in 1997 / 1998 and Mayday was playable in the multiplayer mode.

Ocarina of Time
- You can unfreeze Zora's Domain

Link systematically undoes the damage caused in other locations. It seemed like unfreezing Zora's Domain was the next logical step. In fact, I'd argue that the inability to unfreeze the domain is proof that the game was at least partly rushed in spite of its overwhelming awesomeness. Or perhaps there were limitations with the cartridge. Either way, it's a loose end.

That said, I feel embarrassed for believing the BS way you were allegedly supposed to have thawed the ice. It was something about flaming arrows and a second boss fight with Dark Link. No way would Nintendo have pulled something like that.

Man I was so bummed out as a kid when this didn't happen. I didn't read anything about it I just figured it would. I also fully expected Hyrule Castle to get fixed after the final boss, I even thought that the game freezing at the end was a glitch.

Mario Kart 64 - Heard that you could somehow get inside of Peach's castle during the race.

Mario 64 - That there was a secret behind the courtyard wall. My sister insists that she found it and still claims it's true after so many years. I asked around school and even people online down the road when the internet got better.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter - There being more dinosaurs hidden somewhere in the game.

Star Fox 64 - More planets to explore.

WWF games - Get certain wrestlers. Sounds reasonable enough right? Well some of these characters weren't even in the WWF license when most of the games you can just create your own wrestlers anyway. Unlock Sting by using the Undertaker. Really?

Godzilla: Monster of Monsters - Able to get other monsters to fight on your side. I don't know how I fell for this when I was a kid, but only having two monsters your side seemed unfair while the opposition kept growing with each new level. Was either, you gained a new monster for doing certain goals or enemy monsters sided with you by putting in a code.

Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters - Again, more monsters and better advantage. I was convinced at first because you can get Mothra on your side but why no other monster?
