I'm playing Obduction. There's a part where you have to connect four pistons using a peephole looking thing. On the outside of the ring is a lever that moves the peephole around and connects whichever piston it's looking at if you move it in the appropriate direction. Sounds simple, and it should be simple.

So tell me why it doesn't move on a consistent basis? I've followed a guide step by step to make sure everything is set up right. I double and triple-checked. When I hold on to the lever and try to get it to do anything, it won't. I have moved it but I don't know how I did and in typical fashion, I look my problem up, other people have experienced it, but the threads either get no replies or they die after someone brings it up.
