Supposedly the only real way you can get a Wii remote to work flawlessly with a PC is to make your own bluetooth adapter using the native chip from the Wii itself.

This thing
https://www.ebay.com/i/370535872924?chn=ps&dispItem=1

I was trying to take a bluetooth module from a Wii and solder it to a USB connector to use on my pc. A couple of the pins had to be powered by a 3.3v source, and two AA batteries should have worked. I just don't know what went wrong. When I connected the USB Windows didn't even recognize anything as plugged in.

It was either

I fried the chip by getting it too hot with the iron
My power supply wasn't working (I didn't connect anything to the ground side of the AA batteries, idk if that's "allowed", the chip has it's own ground pin out I connected to the USB. That or my rechargable batteries are too iffy)
I didn't keep the wires clean enough to make good enough contact (some of the wires I had burned the rubber off, probably a big no no)
I broke the chip when I had to use a decent amount of force to unplug it from the Wii (I used pliers)
I shorted some of the pins (I couldn't really tell, but it's sloppy)
Windows decided it was having a bad day and decided not to work

I have a second Wii I can take another chip from and try again tomorrow. I can give it another shot then. Until then I am just feeling like a lousy handiman. Also a console killer. These things take a lot of patience and I'm not a patient person.

I guess tomorrow I'll try again, except I won't solder anything until I get it working with just bare contacts

Question for the electric people, those contacts need 3.3v.

rxKxZNt

How exactly would I do this with two AA batteries? Just stack them and ignore the - end, instead using the board's ground wire?

I know people aren't in US and don't know how big a quarter is, so I put in the battery.

The thing is tiny, the contacts are maybe a millimeter across. Plus my hands are actually pretty shaky. I'll pay attention to cleaning up once I'm done.

Shit I know what I did wrong

I completely ignored the black negatives up at the top of the chip. This is why I suck at doing technically complicated things.

Not that anyone really gaf, but I might as well keep this topic alive so I can post results when I'm done after my voltage regulator chip (and a little button) comes in the mail tomorrow. There's a good chance it just won't work at all.

Here's the final thing

Aaand it works perfectly. I can connect as many Wii remotes as I want and it works flawlessly every time. The Dongle even remembers the Wii remotes just like a real Wii. I've gone two stories up and haven't lost connection, this is much better than any other dongle I've used for Wii remotes.

That thing next to the chip is a voltage regulator. It takes the 5v current from the USB adapter and steps it down to 3.3v. The only thing that's left to do is add a button for the sync functionality and wrap it up all fancy in electric tape.

All wrapped up and totally done. I even have the little button for syncing Wii remotes. :)
