Interesting. Not mind blowing or awe inspiring. But really damn good. Strongly recommend watching the first one soonish beforehand. You don't need to remember every detail, but it does reference back to the first one, and sometimes with no explanation. Very long (almost 3 hours, but fills the time well), and a very, very slow burn. Almost old-school noir pacing. Sound design is intentionally jarring, and LOUD, to drive the dystopian feel. Think Inception "bwaaaaah", cranked up even louder, with heavy 80's style sci-fi distortion. All in all, really fucking good, but I also completely understand why it's bombing in the box office. It is definitely a cult following kind of movie.

Agreed. You don't need to watch the first one, but for the third act, it makes a lot more sense and makes it way better.

Used to try to watch Blade runner ever year for the past decade but could never get through more than 30 mins before getting bored and either turning it off or falling asleep

watched it again last year and absolutely loved it for some reason.

Yeah, the first didn't seem to age well. I watched it for the first time earlier this year, and I could see how it got the following it did, but it didn't fit today's expectations for movie pacing and general layout, making it feel really off.
