Hollywood has a sequel issue, that's not great secret. I'm not really sure why a post that's annoyed with Disney's decision to abandon the only one of their three active projects that was an original piece of content warrants any sort of targeted response from either of you, but knock yourselves out. I mean that's what they do. They retell a fairytale and put their own spin on it. Mickey's version is pretty old and probably played much more straight than this one would have been. It's less about my love of this specific idea and more about my dislike of a full line up of just sequels. Truthfully, I expect the project they're discussing in the article is Zootopia 2 since that's been rumored to be in the works.

If this was shaping up to be a good film, Disney would have made it.

And yes, Incredibles 2, Ralph 2, Frozen 2, Planes 3 and Toy Story 4 does mean a run of sequels coming out in 2018-19. Those are easy money for Disney and combined with Star Wars and Marvel films, Disney are under zero pressure from shareholders.

Also, the Pixar film coming out next month (Coco) isn't a sequel. Yes, it sucks that we're getting 5 animated sequels in a row, it doesn't mean Disney is creatively bankrupt. In the last two years we had Moana, Inside Out, Good Dinosaur and Zootopia. Stop being so shortsighted.

Disney cancelled a bad concept they couldn't make work, end of story.

On the other hand, I loved Zootopia so I'm definitely looking forward to Zootopia 2.

(And even as overrated as Frozen is, I liked that one as well)
